AN APPLE A DAY

My morning was busy with watering plants, going thru mail, email, grooming, etc. etc. etc.  I was able to go to the laundromat to wash two loads of towels, dry them and fold.  Heading out the door to do laundry was encouraging as I was able to breathe in some fresh air.  I cleaned out the car in between the washing and drying cycles.  

I should follow some of my own advice and get out of the house at least an hour a day.  I feel so much better when I do this.  sigh.

After the laundry was done, I went to the grocery store to get some apples as I was out.  Wish I had picked some up when I was last at SAMS.  The apples I got today were lacking flavor.  Discovered this after I ate one.  Disappointed as I have set a goal to eat an apple a day.  These apples will not do.  Nutrition dense foods are needed for a very worn down woman who is making an attempt to be healthier.

Why do others say an apple a day keeps the doctor away?  Where did this come from?

The study tells us that the "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" aphorism was coined in 1913 but was based on the original form with a different rhyme, some 149 years ago in Wales: "Eat an apple on going to bed and you'll keep the doctor from earning his bread," went the proverb in Pembrokeshire.

Fixed a large Salad for supper.

I do confess......i overdosed on Little Debbie Miniature Donuts this evening.

More Silence In The Evenings

Gosh....i had a beautiful childhood.

Cherished memories.  Blessed to have them.

I think this is why I smile when I see old photos of the 50's and 60's era.  Overall, I think we were a people of higher moral values and desired wholesomeness.  Having a happy Home Life was desired. 



One memorable CHILDHOOD Autumn event when attending a Girl Scout Halloween Party was bobbing for apples.  As Scouts, we were a group of young girls that made friendships by having fellowship once a week as we met in our Leader's Home and played in the backyard.  Only for about an hour and a half each time.  Once in awhile, we'd meet at the Liberal, Kansas Girl Scout Cabin in Light Park and practice being good Girl Scouts working on crafts and doorstops made out of spray painted catalogs.

Being busy with our hands creating things to use. 

  

I was close to 10 years old when I dressed in a costume to attend a Halloween party that the leaders put together.  We ambitiously dunked for red apples from an old metal container filled with cold water. Ate refreshments, spent time together as friends/pals and had a overall fun time.

Scouting wasn't about sexual acceptance of same sex attraction and pounding into our heads that we had to accept  ~h o m o s e x u a l i t y~  as being normal.  At the time I was a Scout, we were about doing good deeds, learning skills, helping others, and earning badges for achieving accomplishments that earned a well-made patch to sew on our sashes to display 'Hey, I earned this.'


It wasn't about celebrating same-sex anything.  It was a different organization then.  As my Public School Career was and my Godly United Methodist Church was. We were not into encouraging and participating in ungodly lifestyles of any kind.  Public School was interested in teaching writing, arithmetic and reading with being active in developing one's God given talents that had nothing to do with sexual orientation.  I shutter how far off the path our country, public school, some churches and scouts have gone.  Most of the television programming that is now out there is an abomination, a disgusting thing.


The minds of people are being trashed.  Innocence is violated and the minds of the youth and old alike are raped with such foul activity.  Prime time programs are pumped full of making light of sexual behavior.  Murder runs wild.  Dignified people with integrity are not easy to identify with.  Where are they?  

I watch less and less television.  Over twenty years ago, I gave up Soap Operas.  I detoxed from David Letterman and Jay Leno close to two years ago.  No cable at present.  Watch the news and weather, sometimes late night Perry Mason.  No Game Shows.  The television stays off during the daytime hours.  No Dr. Oz or Dr. Phil.  No Judge Judy or Oprah.  I don't miss it. 

More silence in the evenings is pleasant and healthy.

I cannot remember the last time I dunked/bobbed for apples.
