Parades empower the United States through out the year. What would the small town parade be like if there wasn't the area clubs, organizations, groups, churches and venders participating while showing off their floats, balloons and banners?
Local Politicians wave from cars. Beauty Pageant Contestants and Winners share their big toothy grins while waving and showing their stylish dresses. Sparkling crowns on their heads. Cheerleaders and Marching Bands take their turns performing in the street.
Local Companies get free advertising to let others know they're in business and appreciate their customers. Vintage automobiles and tractors own the road during a parade. And there's no shortage of candy being tossed to the people. One very nice thing about small town parades is that the children can gather the candy and there's plenty to go around. Why even chilled bottled water and shopping bags were handed out. Nice.
What would it be like without the people on the sidewalks not waving back or clapping with pride when the Soldiers silently march by? This was one thing that took me by surprise...when the soldiers marched by, I teared up. Home of the Free and the Brave.
We still have freedoms to have small town parades. We still can gather in public places. We still can smile and say hello to one another. I would like to keep it this way in America. I pray we stay the Home of the Free and the Brave. I pray.
