GLASS BOTTLED WATER, BLUE WILLOW CHINA, GRANDMA HOERNER PIE FILLING AND BUFFALO ALL IN AN AFTERNOON

THE DAY WAS BUSY.  In a nutshell...
Air for tire,
a hunger saver in Manhattan,
Dr.'s appointment,
Brunch at McAlister's,
Grocery Store,
Hobby Lobby for craft stop,
Lumber Yard,
New Thrift Store,
Goodwill,
Grandma Hoerner's,
Buffalo,
Home.

LONG VERSION.
DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT FOR HUBBY.  Got up early, groomed and out the door we went for the out of town adventure in a car that does not have air conditioning on a day that is suppose to stem up into the 80s.  It would have been a great walking day at 70 degrees, but the appointment is a priority.

One of the car's tires needed some air.  Aired the tire and drove to the nearest STARBUCKS for morning Iced Green Tea and a couple of egg bites to tide us over until a bigger meal can be eaten.

Parked the car under a shade tree and walked a bit to the appointment.  Waiting in the Lobby, Hubby had his appointment.

While he was in for the appointment, I played on his phone trying to get some info about Marcia Upson who used to have Naturally Slim Health Program we did 7 years ago so we could get a better price on Health Insurance through Hubby's employment.  I can't remember much about it.  I know that they were not very big on nutrition, but were more in lines about eating when hungry.

She rebranded herself and I'll need to see what this is about.  INSIGHTS WITH MARCIA.  May be too new age for me.

Gwen Shamblin Lara focused on this theme as well and her program went down the tube as she became a spiritual leader in a cult church she created.  Gwen died in a airplane crash along with her pilot husband, a son-in-law, and others from her church.  Gwen had a very colorful past when she got involved with her second Husband, Tarzan.  She divorced her first Husband and wed Tarzan, Joe Lara.  For someone who disagreed with divorce, she changed her tune when she got involved with Joe.  Now it was alright to divorce.

Back to Marcia.  She had it made getting hooked up with Utility Companies and Universities that used her program.  I regret doing this program when we did as my Father-in-law had passed and we should have been focusing on the grieving process and not Naturally Slim to get a discount on Health Insurance.

HUBBY and I discussed where to get our SALADS.  McAlisters won out.  Lunch was delicious.

From there I walked over to the Grocery Store in hopes of getting some arugula, cucumbers, almond milk, broccoli.  They had Mountain Valley Spring Water in glass bottles.  Had to buy some.

Went over to HOBBY LOBBY to get some art supplies such as a drawing board and markers.  I will begin to draw for pleasure during the month of July.  ONTO MENARDS for a battery for my car clicker.

There was a new THRIFT STORE spied so we went.

They just so happened to have a few pieces of  VINTAGE BLUE WILLOW CHINA for a discounted price.  Snatched these up.

GOODWILL ranked so I did a quick search for something thrifty.  Found 3 cloth doll bodies that I will draw faces on and dress up as pioneer something or other.

HOMEWARD BOUND across the hot prairie.  On the way, we stopped off at GRANDMA HOERNER'S just to look about.  It's been awhile since I popped in there.  50% off of some pie filling for $3.oo in a glass jar.

๐Ÿฆฌ The Buffalo/Bison were out grazing in the pasture so I detoured and parked the car on the dirt road to observe the herd.  Massive creatures, but oh so beautiful they are.

๐Ÿฆฌ Observing them takes me to a different time than 2025.  More like 1825.

HOME we went, unloaded our spoils and are taking a break this afternoon.  The HEAT has gotten to me.  Takes the energy right out of me.

Stay hydrated and peace out on the Kansas Prairie,

SUNDAY SHIVERS

ONCE AGAIN MY COMPUTER BLEW AWAY MY POST WHEN PUBLISHING.  Using Hubby's computer today.  When it happened, I simply closed the laptop and walked away thinking I'll sleep on it and try again in the morning.  No tempers flared this time.

I'll need to copy all my photos and pics before taking the sick thing to the docs incase the pics are lost as repairs take place.  Good idea.

Hello to you out there in bogland.  Is it cold where you live?  8 degrees here in the Flint Hills.  Feels like -7.  The high today will be 12.  We are chilled to the bone and I guess I can embrace it as I stay indoors working on the laundry.

Even nature needs a rest.  SPRING FLOWERS will begin to pop through the ground before I know it.  Let it happen soon.  Remembering that we're one day closer to Spring pacifies me some.

I have to focus on other things to keep my mind busy.

Neat idea for old sweaters that have seen better days or you just want to turn loose of.  I think I could do this project as it looks easy.  I haven't sewn in years.  Getting the itch to do it which would bring me great satisfaction.  What an easy way to make MITTENS.

That WINTER CAMPAIGN of catching up on the laundry continues.  Not very exciting, but it's real.  Maybe by SPRING, I'll be out of the woods and caught up.  grins.  Sounds like a long ways off yet Spring is about 59 days out!

I'm resting after our mini-vacay to Iowa.  My neck is tired from driving the car.  Slowly I'm unpacking our bags from the trip and figuring what needs done next.

I placed the miniature Blue Willow China from the ENCHANTED FROG Antique Shoppe we stopped at on the way HOME.
Back in April, we did the same thing and I purchased some miniature Blue Willow from the same vender.  I proudly placed these pieces in my antique china cabinet amongst the china.
The children's china is sweet to look at.  It more than likely was played with by children years ago.

How sweet are the sounds of innocent children playing.
I can imagine the conversations they had as they served their guest pretend tea and cookies or just shared with themselves.

I bought a casserole with lid and a sugar bowl with lid.

Similar to these.

At a THRIFT STORE IN DES MOINES, I purchased a beautiful coffee table book about dolls.  I don't have a coffee table, but I do have a few dolls.  Great find and price.
When we get the floor to ceiling bookcases made in the Master Bedroom, I'll have a section for my Doll Collection.  I have to be patient, but in some ways I am too old to be patient.  Some things just need to happen quickly.  Amen.  Then SUDDENLY.

I may try to start some geranium plants from the ones I have.  Watched a video on how to do this so I must give it a try.  If it doesn't take, I'll mark it up to learning.

DAY 19 on the Daniel Diet.  Weighed myself today.  15 pounds off my frame since December 31st.  It's been a very hard thing for me this go round.  I want so badly to eat bread and meat.  Terribly hard for me to say no to myself.  I've managed thus far.
Day 21 is on Tuesday so on Wednesday, I will have my toast and eggs.  Still I must discipline myself and continue to reduce the size of my body.  By my Summer Birthday, I hope to have thinned down as I turn 70.  This year, I will do it.

I am an emotional eater.  I know it now as I was around my Mom and Sister last week and I want to eat more than I should.  BUT WHY?  I watched a video where the lady says to ask yourself why you want to eat.  So I did.  I can tell that my stomach is full, but my emotional status wants something to take pleasure in.  Something to ease any uncomfortable feelings I am having.

I don't like it when I am working at dieting and my Mom says that a little something that isn't on my diet won't hurt me.  I bugged my eyes this time and commented back that it would hurt me.
When we were eating out while shopping, I had a SALAD.  Mom asked if I was going to eat ALL THAT as she sipped on her miniature size bowl of soup?  I said yes.  I held up a lettuce leaf and said that this leaf only has one calorie in it and she replied, I don't think so.
This isn't encouraging me to eat the way I need to.

Why my Mom wants to sabotage my efforts isn't clear so I must ignore her statements and go on.
Was I encouraged as a child to succeed?  No.
It has been the spirit of the living God in me that helped me aim to succeed.  It's alright to succeed.  I must do what I am suppose to do.  Amen.

I binged watched the television series ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL on PBS.  POPCORN was permitted so I ate some and boy was it good.  I may watch it all over again.  Good TV.

PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH OF JANUARY.
Finish the laundry.
Thin out clothing from closet that no longer fits or isn't favored.
Start putting Christmas decor away.
Stay focused on what I'm eating.  Dieting.

FEBRUARY PLANS.
Clear out the food pantry and organize it.
Same with storage area under kitchen sink.
Start making copies of pictures of family on photo paper.
Gather up Income Tax papers.
Shop for carpet.
Order new eye glasses.
Dieting continues.

The week is before us.
Today mustn't be ignored.

MAKES ME TWITCH FUNNY and THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS EVE

MIDWEEK and I iz busy taking the Blue Willow China out of bunged up cardboard boxes that are falling apart.  The antique china cabinet is filling up.  Hope I can arrange it to where the cabinet holds the brunt of the china.

Off the top of my head, I don't remember how many pieces I bubble wrapped and placed in boxes, carried to the car, drove over to the Cottage in a different community than I was living at the time, carried heavy boxes up some steps into the Cottage and stacked in the living room.  Then Hubs carried them to the garage where they have been over a year.

I can't remember when I boxed them up.  Maybe after my hysterectomy?  I know I didn't carry them right away, but wrapping them, I did.   NOPE.  I went back through my blog and found a post when I was boxing up my Blue Willow dishes in February of 2023.  SO it's been longer than a year since they've seen daylight.  Been 21 MONTHS!!!  Makes me twitch funny.

21 months have passed.  Unboxing the dishes has been like opening a time capsule buried away until the calendar shows the time is right to get the items out again.  The day arrived.  I was able to work hard at getting this task done before midnight.  I should pat myself on my back for sticking to it.  Pat pat.  Feel that?  Do it again.  You deserve a raise and a few days off.

How can it have been that long ago that I started boxing things up for our move?  No wonder I hit an emotional wall once in awhile.  This move has been in slow-mo over two years.  The sensation of not being settled has been earned.  Lord help.  I think I have been in some kind of trance.

BY EVENING, I had what I could get into the cabinet.  Every square inch taken.  Boxed up a few pieces that I will keep for now, but store elsewhere.

NOW to get the empty boxes out of the living room and vacuum the carpet to tidy up the room.  I made progress and it finally shows.  I am relieved that this has finally happened.  I know where the BLUE WILLOW is at.  ALL OF IT.  Inside Mom's antique China Cabinet displays my pride and joy.  Looks beautiful.  Praise the LORD.  Praise the LORD.

THE MOVIE we watched tonight made my eyes water.  THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS EVE with Kelsey Grammer is Family Friendly.  It is a very good made for tv secular CHRISTMAS movie with a very good message.

A hardened hearted businessman has let life pass him by while building up the family business on the memory of his father.  He is given 12 chances to get LIFE right.  Worth watching.

The week is getting away from me.  Company is traveling into town this week-end.  I'll need to tidy the COTTAGE as much as I can so the house is somewhat presentable.  This is an opportunity to love on a family member that needs some answered prayers concerning work.

Blessings,
~d

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
