OVER THE WEEK-END, I got very little done. Friday's outing must have worn me out. Sitting upright in the theatre chair for several hours was more than I have been doing since recovering from surgery. I usually have my feet elevated in my recliner. The theatre seat was upright so I was as well.
I thought I did alright for the outing and felt alright, but my body has a mind of her own and knows that I am in a weakened state. Though having a good and positive outlook goes a long ways, it isn't mind over matter. Metaphysics isn't going to speed up the healing process. It takes time for one to heal. Sometimes we do not want to cooperate and think healing should take place in a flash. That seldom happens and we may be unrealistic.
Saturday revealed a difference of opinion in the energy department. Fatigued once again so I rested in silence. Little protest, but slightly agitated that I am exhausted. Saturday came and went so I thought I would get some laundry done on Sunday afternoon. I did, but not before getting seriously dizzy.
Making my trips count when I go to the COTTAGE, I loaded the car with a few things which ended remaining in the car because I ended up getting ill. I don't think it was the heat, but a migraine.
Before I left for the day, I had a mild headache. I was tempted to just stay HOME because I didn't feel quite right. Just a bit off. Forging ahead I arrived taking some laundry inside to wash. I didn't carry the other things inside before watering the porch plants. Sundays are a good day to water the plants.
Between being dizzy and tired, I laid down to nap while the first load of laundry was going. When I woke, the room was violently spinning. It doesn't seem fair to be ill when already challenged with healing. Laying there on the sofa, I closed my eyes and talked to the LORD. I suppose HE wanted me to lay down and be still. Rested.
I continued with the laundry and decided that when the load was done I'd go HOME. Still dizzy. My stomach was upset and I had no migraine meds with me to take.
Until I felt better to where I could drive HOME and take some meds, I took another NAP. That's a lot of NAPS. My head and stomach were better so I left to go HOME as quick as I could. The room had stopped spinning. Hubby fixed me supper. I ate. I sat. I rested. Nearly cried since I didn't get much done besides sleep.
Sunday evening, we binged watched UNFORGOTTEN on PBS. My stomach was beginning to get upset again. I fell asleep during episode 4 and had to rewind. I began to think perhaps I had co vid.
Monday would be my 6 weeks since surgery on July 24th. I've come along ways, but I don't feel as chipper as I thought I would. Shall see how the week goes. Resting so much has been a challenge to me. Back to trying to be a good patient.
In the cool of the morning on Monday, I loaded more small items in the car and headed over to do more laundry in the hot afternoon. The heat has not let up. It's been six weeks since seriously working on laundry and it has piled up and needs attention. A little at a time is all the energy I have to give.
While at the COTTAGE, I shuffled light weight items making preparations for furniture arrangements. With the COTTAGE being so small it doesn't take much for it to be overcrowded.
For now, I can't do much. Perhaps later, I'll do some research on health issues. Do a little paperwork. I didn't get to the basement to take peeks in tubs last week so I'll try again this week. Sometimes the simplest of things are impossible to get done. These past 6 weeks, I have had to say no to lifting things over 10 pounds and with the fatigue I have, getting anything done is challenging to the point of not getting done at all. Sigh. My thoughts are like a reved up engine. There's too much to do to be idle, but I have to be inactive. It's in the idle that I have to recoup.
I really thought I would be up to writing a book while recovering. Not a reality. The fatigue has been debilitating. In hopes of getting more energetic, I pray. I eat well. De-stress as best I can. Drink spring water. Take supplements. Rest a great deal. Walk some. Do a few chores. Talk to loved ones.
Not getting discouraged is a challenge that I have to mentally place in a box and shelf. Trusting God has to be a priority. My life is in His hands. pause. I must rest and be thankful I can.
MONDAY was a better day. The dizziness was gone. Loading more small items into the car, I made my way to the COTTAGE to do some much needed laundry. A couple loads of towels, t-shirts, table cloth.
That felt good. Dry towels were waiting from yesterday, so I folded them and put them into a basket to take HOME. I spent the rest of the time shuffling furniture. It's exhausting working in such a small area with so much crammed into the space. I have to take very small steps to get about.
I managed getting the empty antique china cabinet on wooden wheels rolled into the place it will sit. That in itself felt like a huge accomplishment. Moving a multitude of things, I managed to make a path so I could walk one of the Henredon chairs from the Living room into the Dining room. I could have done back flips. The chair is right where I need it. I have two of these chairs which will go on either side of the antique Hutch.
Taking my time, I shuffled so much it wore me out meaning I had to sit or lie down on the sofa countless times before doing another round of shuffling. In between I had time to think about what to move next to get the chairs where they were needed. Like figuring out a puzzle. Four laundry loads later, it was time to head HOME.
Rolling the China Cabinet and walking the Henredon chairs into the Dining room was a huge accomplishment for me. It's tiring to move so much over and over from one side of the room to the other even when the items are light weight. I keep telling myself to keep moving. Soon things will be where they need to be. It's one thing to place things in a room where they will go without things being in the way verses dodging things like a obstacle course. It makes me think that I don't want so much to deal with. Downsizing and being orderly is a must. A have to. I'm ready.
The small dumb waiter table is sitting to the side of one of the Living room wing chairs. I think I will leave it there for now so I will have a place for the landline phone to sit when we get over there.
The small Living room has room for two wing chairs, an ottoman, a small dumb waiter table, a love seat, a wooden buffet for the TV to sit on in front of the bay window and an old wooden chest for a lamp.
The Dining room has space for a corner cabinet which I will fill with old dishes, a china cabinet for Blue Willow, a round oak table to sit in the middle of the room, four wooden chairs about it, a sideboard, two Henredon chairs, a small Eastlake table in front of the double windows, and a antique desk with small Victorian chair. Sounds like a lot of furniture doesn't it for a small COTTAGE.
The pink Bedroom which is what I'm calling the Victorian Bedroom is extremely crowded. For now, it is a crowded mess. Will work on this on a later date. The other Bedroom is a warehouse right now. The Kitchen is a disaster. The Utility room the same. The Bathroom is under construction.
Back to the main house. The rooms are just about all emptied. Hubby is laying marble tile in the Entryway. The painting is finished in there. Boxes are stacked high in the Living room and Dining room. The Kitchen is a maze to get about in. I started deep cleaning the oven. I have yet to clear out the upstairs Linen closet and empty the Basement that is half full. Clearing out the carriage house will probably be the last thing we do.
My mind is a battle field. Staying calm when there is so much to do and keeping the body inactive is difficult to do. I have the time to think about the steps needed to getting this move completed. It's tough to sit so much and think about this all. I believe I need to give myself two more weeks before I can lift heavier things. Carrying the light weight things is enough for now and yet it is pushing my body more than I should be doing.
