My day didn't go as planned.
I knew that a full body scan was scheduled for me at one this afternoon. When I arrived to check in at the Hospital, I wasn't in the computer. Hum. I sat for 30 minutes in the Lobby while the receptionist made connections and someone came and got me to take me to the Basement where Nuclear Medicine resides.
You lie on a vinyl gurney with a pillow underneath your knees. Arms rest at your sides on individual slates. The technician keys in information into the computer and the action begins. I cannot describe the overall equipment, but you have to lie still for 30 minutes while the scan is taking place.
Last week, I decorated and cleaned the entire house (in my head) while the 30 minute scan took place. This week, as I laid there...I fell asleep! Can you believe that? I guess I was more relaxed than I ever imagined.
I was given FANTASTIC NEWS by the Doctor. Left behind thyroid tissue from the surgeries was being killed by the radioactive iodine treatment. No activity elsewhere in my body!
My scan was a good one.
Now I am working at lowering high blood pressure and an irregular heart beat.
On November 8th, the day of the Radioactive Iodine Treatment where I swallowed 2 blue and white capsules that were brought into my hospital room inside a glass pill bottle that was stored inside a larger metal container, my blood pressure shot way up and my heart developed a irregular beat.
An EKG was done and I heard nothing else about it. Have to call the Hospital and track this down.
Through out the week, I had a challenge.
Last night when I returned home from the Motel, my heart wouldn't stabilize. It continued to have an irregular heart beat. Hubby called Doctor and reached a Health Connection where the Lady got ahold of a Nurse that got ahold of the Doctor on call. We made a late night run to a 24 hour pharmacy. Was prescribed a new medicine that should help lower blood pressure and regulate the heart beat. I was told to have some blood work done in the morning.
So I did. TSH checked. I explained to the technician that drew the blood what was going on. She told me that after my body scan to come back to office, the doctor would be in and ask for ****** and see what to do next.
After the scan, I did exactly what I was suppose to and ****** gave me a copy of blood work and said she'd call me tomorrow or Friday after visiting with Doctor. I could be dead by then.
I left there thinking, Deanna why didn't you assert yourself and tell her that you weren't leaving until the doctor said what to do next. Dahhhhhh. Next time I meet with this doctor I will be asking him some straight forward questions such as how do I get ahold of you when I am having a serious problem? How do I get passed ****** ?
If I communicate with a different doctor on duty, how do you find out that there was a problem in the first place?
Will be contacting my Family Doctor in morning. Perhaps he will phone my other doctor and together will be given new direction as to what to do about this problem.
Nervous,
~Deanna~
