GOING CRACKERS!

RESTED THROUGH THE NIGHT waking still feeling nauseated, but better.  Hubby was up several times during the night visiting the porcelain throne.  His symptoms came on like a ton of bricks and his throat is raspy from the results of this flu.  I'm partly expecting him to have more side effects from this crude today.  We were suppose to go to REGIONALS for track, but plans have been changed.  Staying HOME.

I'm still sipping SPRITE and eating soda crackers.  I suppose my BLOOD SUGAR is way high from the sugar in the pop, but LORD HAVE MERCY I needed some relief with some fizzy beverage in my gut.  I didn't have sugar-free in the pantry and what we did have was much appreciated.  I only drink soda pop like Sprite or 7-up with the flu.

Soda crackers are rarely eaten, but once again I needed some relief.  No coffee or tea for me.  In August, it will have been 3 years since I last tasted coffee.  I haven't missed it very much.  I do drink tea a bit.

I'm nibbling on the left-over CHRISTMAS Candy Canes thinking the peppermint will help with the nausea.  Gotta do something.  I was so pleased that during the Christmas HOLIDAY we stayed well.  Still pleased about this, but having the flu in the month of MAY isn't welcomed either.

It rained during the night and the skies are cloudy this morning.  I heard thunder in the distance thinking it was going to be a wicked storm.  It wasn't.  The little pepper and tomato plants I planted are appreciating the moisture and I have not had to water them.  I placed the patio containers about the cellar doors grouping them to make a statement for someone that does not garden.  grins.  I am in hopes that they grow beautiful produce and we can munch on some nutritious food later that does not have pesticides on them.

I want to get back to taking my vitamins.  I have failed to do so for about a week.  We had traveled out of town and I had them with me, but failed to take them.  Easy to do when not at HOME.  My fingernails grow so much better when I take the pills.  That's worth something for someone who cannot seem to grow long fingernails.  Vanity or just good 'ole necessity.

I'll take some migraine meds here in a little bit and see if that quiets down the headache.  I believe I will feel better in a few days and can return to walking outside around the football field track.  Here I was so pleased to have walked my first mile of the season on Mother's Day and again on Monday.  So pleased.  How quickly things can change.  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are out.  It will probably be a solid week before I take it back up.  Hopefully I can.  With this illness, I have consumed fewer calories than usual.  A hard way to go about it, but then the appetite is gone.  Doing my best to stay hydrated.  Some weight loss has happened, but I know it's water.  I can look at it in a more positive light and tell myself some detoxing has come from this flu and what I start to put back into my system can be healthy vegetables and no processed foods at all.  I can tell myself that, but it's a hard habit to break.

Food had no hold on me the past few days.  Looking at pictures of food just about caused an issue sending me to the porcelain princess.  No appeal at all.

Sipping Sprite this morning trying to keep my gut calm.  Crackers soon.  Thankful that something is helping me feel better.  I believe it is times like this that I appreciate good health more than ever.  My gut still hurts.  Headache and nauseated.

I had the strength to load some towels into the washing machine and take some trash out of the bathroom waste can.  Restocked some dirty dishes in the sick and fill the sink with detergent water that's extremely hot.  I will try to wash these this morning if I can.  No solid food today.  Crackers and soda pop will do and I will be very pleased to have this.  Going crackers isn't as bad as it can be.  Praise the LORD for soda crackers and Sprite.  Praise the LORD, indeed.

There's a short scripture I say out loud when I am not feeling the best.  Besides the Lord's Prayer I say Jeremiah 17:14. Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

I'm not crackers, my simple brain remembers this one.

Already the 17th of the month.  May is half over.  Can you believe it?  It's strange how fast the time flies right on by.  Will take in some fresh air today.  I feel well enough to load the car with donation items.  The sofa is covered with boxes full of stuff with the overflow on the floor.  Get it out of here and keep on thinning stuff out.  The larger things I can possibly sell?  Maybe?

I will go walk the backyard looking at the Irises clipping some for the vase indoors.  About two more weeks of blooms to love.

The Crown, Lawless and Outlander

HEAVENS.  It's been 4 days since the new year started with celebrating it turning 2020 with a stomach ache.    The week before my hacking cough hurt my chest.  Suffering through this for a week, I thought I was better with the hacking cough silenced.  An asthmatic dry cough started increasing as the stomach churned.

New Year's Day was interrupted with a sickness that has hung on for a few days.  Stomach virus now.  Praying this runs its course and I survive this awful condition.  Cough syrup, emergen-c, dayquil, nyquil, anti-nausea meds, asthma inhaler, cough drops, chicken noodle soup, applesauce, club crackers, 7-up, ginger ale, jello, theraflu, the list goes on.  Did I mention tums?  Chewy.

My upper stomach hurt beyond anything I have had before when having the flu.  A heaviness that hurts.  Cramps additional.  I'm praying I live.  This has been a long two weeks.  A very LONG two weeks.  I have been able to rest and nap off and on.  My dear Husband has been helping me by taking care of me.  A blessing as he has retired from employment and is home.

The fatigue is real with weakness not far behind.  I am making a big deal about washing hands with hot soapy water, taking vitamins and distressing.  Praying for healing.  I have time on my hands to think about all that needs disinfected and cleaned.

A week for weakness.  Resting and having thoughts of what to do the rest of the month into the rest of Winter.  Time will tell.  God is in charge.

No fever the entire time.  No headache.  No aches and pains in the muscles and joints.  If I can be positive about this I will certainly try.  Time to pray and power through as best I can.

One day closer to Spring gives me HOPE.

WITH BEING ILL, I've had to sit and rest with an upset stomach.  Time to heal and rest.  Have slept, rested, read, prayed and watched the tele.  Binge watched THE CROWN.  Watching this on the big screen television made the series easy to watch, but the story line did not keep my interest.  A bit boring.  The costuming was beautiful, the interior shots massive, the scenery inviting, but the story line was a bit off for me.  I suppose being ill didn't help.

One evening, we watched a 2012 movie called LAWLESS.  Horribly graphic and oh so bloody about the Bondurant Brothers.  Not a movie for young children.  Some nudity, much violence and killing.

In 1931, the Bondurant brothers of Franklin County, Va., run a multipurpose backwoods establishment that hides their true business, bootlegging. Middle brother Forrest (Tom Hardy) is the brain of the operation; older Howard (Jason Clarke) is the brawn, and younger Jack (Shia LaBeouf), the lookout. Though the local police have taken bribes and left the brothers alone, a violent war erupts when a sadistic lawman (Guy Pearce) from Chicago arrives and tries to shut down the Bondurants operation.

TONIGHT, I am binge watching the series OUTLANDER.  I was shocked at the nudity with the rating simply saying it was for mature audiences.  Not for young audiences.  Rating TV- Mature.  I suppose it is, but this is a new one for me.

Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened.

SO far the episodes are keeping me guessing.

I HAVE STOPPED WATCHING THIS SERIES AS IT IS GLORIFYING RAPE
and adult sex even though it is between a husband and a wife.  Entirely too much skin is showing and what is called soft porn is in abundance.  What could have been a very interesting story was turned into a series that could have been without sexual intercourse.  Absolutely appalled that young children can watch this graphic activity.  Turn it off.  Never start the series.

I'll be sleeping in my recliner again tonight as I think it best to sleep away from my Husband.  The recliner has allowed me to sleep somewhat reclined and somewhat upright.

Breathing is easier this way.
Upset stomach present.  Perhaps gone tomorrow.

Coughing still is a problem.
HUSH,

Tammi Flew Away

ACTUALLY I did smile
when I read  S P  L E N D I D   S P R I N G   on the front cover of the new Bliss Victoria magazine that came in the mail...'cause I am so ready for Spring it hurts.

AND I have the flu.  Thankful we are HOME.  Spring is on her way as the ground hog saw his shadow and the Red Robins have been chirping in the yard.  What a sight to see here on the prairie.  ROBINS.

The red, red robin keeps bob bob bobbin' along.....a welcomed sight after this bitter cold winter that seems to never quit.

THOUGH I ACHE FROM HEAD TO TOE,  there's comfort to being able to stretch out and rest in my own bed.  My Husband and I both have the flu.  We had a sickly Valentine's day at home.  My mind has been racing the last few days as we returned from my Father-in-law's funeral coming back with the flu as we drove the 7 hours through Oklahoma into Kansas.  First coughing and hacking then hubby got the chills.

He actually got ill Saturday night with a throat tightening EPISODE where I thought we were hospital bound.  Got him through the night with an inhaler and on the road home the next day.  Like a faithful assistant, I chimed in with a hacking cough.  More than ready to be back HOME.

OFF to the Doctor's and Tamiflu.  TYPE A FLU.  As the day progressed, the sicker we got.  ROUGH NIGHT.  Rough 5 nights and long days.  Finally napping off and on throughout the day.  I didn't know the difference between type A and type B.  Had to look that one up.

Not sure it has helped me with this flu.  Wondered where the name Tamiflu came from.  Who makes Tamiflu?  Where'd the name come from?  Tammi flew away with the flu.

Every time I venture to the bathroom  (and that's quite often) I'm doing my best to wipe down the fixtures with disinfectant wipes.  It's an act of love as I have next to zero energy.  Every trip, I wipe a little more...fixtures that is.  Well.  Using WATKINS.  Another great product.  Smells like citrus.  Wonderful scent.  Got these at Menard's.  Need more!

Am so weak, it's hard to stand.  Get queasy when moving about.  Hopefully tomorrow I can stand in the shower and freshen up.  My hair looks like a mop-top.

AS THIS WEEK PASSES, I'm better.  It's been rough.  Upset stomach.  Bowels doing their thing.  Ache.  Fatigue.  Skin aches.  Still coughing with light headedness, but BREATHING!!!  Too tired to walk, stand and stay awake.

HAVE SPENT THE MAJORITY OF MY TIME sleeping or lying on the bed.  A little time each day is spent sitting upright.  May this week-end be better.  LAUNDRY to do.  The bedding will need washed for sure.  If I can, I will go for a drive and breathe some fresh air.

It's been years since my Husband and I have had the flu at the same time.  THINK my kids were babies the last time.

Getting through this episode of FLU.
More then ready for SPRING,
d

Influenza A

The dreaded FLU hit
our neck of the woods.

One of those strains that has morphed.
Daughter was told
that Lil Miss had Influenza A.
A nose swabbing determined the diagnoses.

Her temp had been 103 and climbing.
Quick...what do you do?

Children's Tylenol altered with Ibuprofen.
Give age appropriate dose every 4 hours.
Cold wet wash cloth to the back of the neck and across the forehead.
Lukewarm bath.  If they get the shivers, wrap them in a blanket afterwards.
Dress in cool clothing to help cool off body.
Cold wet socks wrapped around the ankles.
Drink fluids.
Eat popsicles/freeze pops.
Pray.
Rest.

If coughing, use cough drops.
Encourage child to cough into elbow.
Children's cold meds will help.

Disinfectant wipes to wipe down the phone, door knobs, light switches,
computer keyboards, handrails, bathroom fixtures, etc.
Keep person away from others as best you can.
As long as they have a fever, they are contagious.

Lil Miss has ate oyster crackers, jello salad, popsicles/freeze pops and drank 7-up.
She's doing better, but needs lots of rest and fluids.

Blessings to you and may you be well,
d

* It took about a week for Lil Miss to get to feeling better and have no sign of fever.
A very long week.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
