ENJOYABLE WEEK-END!!!

We went to UNION STATION in Kansas City.
Saw Princess Di's Wedding Dress the day after her royal son married. So much anticipation to see Royal Wedding Dresses. It was a dream come true for me to see in person Princess Di's Royal Wedding Dress right after Kate and William's much awaited ceremony.

PLUS my husband and I have been wanting to see the movie
'THE CONSPIRATOR' and he located the movie being shown in Kansas City. One of my blogging buddies was in this movie so it was extra fun looking for Kim in the movie.

Kim is a reenactor actress and played President Lincoln Administration Secretary Of War Edwin Staton's wife in the movie. She looked beautiful in her dress and so much the part of a proper Lady and Wife during the Lincoln era's special time in History.
I liked the movie and would like to see it again. The costuming, interior designs, acting, story line were all TOP of the LINE. Very good.

We viewed the movie at the Palazzo 16 Theater
in Overland Park, Kansas.
The nicest Movie Theater I've ever visited.
We had a super relaxing week-end that was badly needed as Husband and Wife. I have been under the weather and needed a slow paced week-end. So seeing Princess Di's Wedding Dress and watching a great movie was just what the doctor ordered.

We started by dining at the classy Harvey's Restaurant
where you can get an awesome Meatloaf Meal with the fixins' for $8.50.

It was a nice surprise!
Or a decent Hamburger and Fries.
After Lunch we went to the Diana Exhibit.
Just before you enter the actual exhibit there are beautiful portraits and dresses of area Brides from a day that's gone by.
I was able to take a picture then was told

I have admired Princess Diana's clothing for a while now and to see so many of her dresses and gowns in one location was like a dream come true to hickish 'ole me from Southwest Kansas where you think you're seeing a tree when you look at a telephone pole. I stood next to the protective glass that guarded her wedding dress, so I was about two feet from the hem of her garment! Awesome.
Dress made with three different types of fabrics including high quality taffeta made from silk woven on Britian's Lullingstone Silk Farm, more than 100 yards of tulle and lace that once belonged to Queen Mary which the designers and her mother hand embroidered with more than 10,000 pearls and sequins.
It was like a dream come true....Fantasy came to life for a middle aged woman that remembers the actual wedding when she was a young wife and momma living in Liberal, Kansas with three young children under the age of 6.
When I was 26 and living in old dry Liberal, Kansas I was not overly impressed with her wedding dress then...it was too pooffy sleeved with ruffles for me. I'm not sure what I was expecting for Diana's Wedding Dress when at the time I was too much of a uncouth Commoner for the 25 foot train. More into being a blue jean momma that liked going barefooted.

My appreciation for the wedding dress has developed and increased. I really liked looking at Princess Di's Style as it morphed into a royal flair with hats and gorgeous shoes from other countries as she herself got a tad bit older. Her hairstyles and clothing became more beautiful as she became a mature woman with children and duty.
After seeing film of her walking down the aisle on her Wedding Day, her 25 foot train looked majestic in the oversized church.

I truly enjoyed the Exhibit and wouldn't mind going back. In the Jarvis Hunt Room you can have High Tea or a more Casual Tea. Beautiful room to sip a spot of Tea in Honor of Diana...will disappear after the Exhibit ends.

I so enjoyed my week-end.
Seeing the dress in person made an impression on me
and as a 55 year old I really liked the frilly dress and all the lace and poof.
Times have changed and so have I.
