Growing Up Takes Time

Somebody's balloon went pop.
All smiles.

Celebrated Grand's 4th Birthday
which flooded my thoughts with past memories.  Already 4.

He smiles a great deal.  Very active and tries like heck to keep up with his older brothers.

Just in the nick of time to celebrate.
 Games, cake, presents.
Always great fun.

LOVE,
Granny d

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A WONDERFUL
GRANDSON.

I was a good girl and ate sugar-free cupcake
and guzzled bottled water.

Oh What A Feelin'

The new mattress and box springs arrived on a rainy Tuesday afternoon with two movers carrying the hefty pieces up a flight of stairs and placing them on the bed frame.

Happy to have ownership.

Long time in the coming.  Almost two years since the house fire that claimed our antique bed which had a custom made mattress/box.  The oak bed burned up and went through the hard wood floor that had fallen through the floor into the kitchen below.

When seeing the metal bed springs in the kitchen, I was in a semi-stupor wondering what are springs doing in my kitchen?

Nothing quite like breakfast in bed.  When coming to my senses, it hit home that the bed was completely destroyed not to mention the bedroom and kitchen.

When replacing home items, there comes a time when the money for replacement spending comes out of your pocket first and the receipts are turned in to the insurance company to reimburse your spending up to a dollar amount.  So if you don't have the cash flow up front, you may not get a replacement item.  Time runs out and then you are scrambling to replace what was lost.  If ever.

Nice arrangement for the insurance company.  Makes me bite my tongue.

I am THANKFUL for the bedroom furniture, mattress, box springs, the room, the house, HOME.  Washing the mattress pad cover.  Then sheets and comforter will be purchased, laundered to make up the bed.  A little here and there.

It is coming together.
Oh what a feelin' to have it come together,

Mums The Word

THIS YEAR,
I cannot start decorating for FALL in August.
No no noooooooo.

I. just. can't. start.

Perhaps in a week or so.
PERHAPS IN A MONTH OR SO.

It's still SUMMER to me.  I'm pushing it wearing orange clothing in AUGUST,
but I did when I had my hair done.

The trees are beginning to turn and that's the way it is, but I am not psyched for the transition yet.  Deep down inside I believe that we will have an early AUTUMN this year.
It's been rainy as of late making headway for HURRICANE SEASON.  Early.

To me decorating for Autumn in the middle of Summer kind of feels like when the merchants have already placed CHRISTMAS GOODS out to sell in the DOG DAYS OF SUMMER.  Out. of. sync.

At this time, I have no desire to create a wreath for the front doors or place pumpkins on the fireplace mantle.  Too early.  I still want to sip lemonade in the screened-in porch and listen to the birds chirp 'COME WHAT MAY!'

Truth be known, I have no idea where my AUTUMN WREATHS are at.  I can tell you where the CHRISTMAS ones are.  In fact, I know where a glue gun is with a wire wreath form sitting beside it.  Plastic Christmas ornaments in a storage box waiting to be glued to the form.  In September I may glue me a wreath so colorful it will scream hohoho celebrate.  ARGH.  No Bah Humbug for this wreath.

True Confessions.....I have been eye balling some mums wondering what color will grace the front porch this AUTUMN.  What will compliment the house?  Our house is a creamy yellow with black highlights.  When I think of AUTUMN COLORS, I brainstorm rust, yellow, oranges, browns, burgundy.  Some deep greens and purple.  Deep reds.

The spectrum of Autumn colors will not matter.  All will be inviting.

MUMS the word,
d

Just Out My Kitchen Window

WINTERED this geranium in the Kitchen Garden Window
in which it did not bloom all season.
When the temps were right,
I placed the plant just outside the Kitchen door on the Porch.

Geranium loved the environment.
BLOOMED.

WISH I had measured the bloom.
Largest I've ever had.

Hours of beauty to enjoy
on the Prairie,

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
