Beloved,
Welcome to my blog.
Blessings to you this day.
All the debate that I have heard over the years about religion, church, the way to heaven, piety, the right way...the wrong way to live, church is doing this wrong and church is doing that wrong, is on going.
The discussions, the conversations, the magazine articles, the conferences, the comments, the opinions, the this and the that. Can we take a break? Yes.
Remember the classic hymn The Solid Rock? Maybe you haven't heard it before. I will have to google it and see if there's a decent version on the internet. If you come across one, will you let me know? (http://www.cyberhymnal.org/)
BORN IN 1797, Edward Mote later wrote the words to this tune, The Solid Rock.
He wasn't raised in a Christian Home.
Ignored by his parents that ran a pub, he played in the streets.
Trained in the cabinetry business, at age 16 he was BORN AGAIN after being taken to hear the esteemed preacher John Hyatt when he was genuinely converted to Christ.
Running his business and being a Christian Businessman, he then became a Baptist Preacher that was so loved by the congregation they offered the church building to him.
He said, "I do not want the Chapel, I only want the pulpit; and when I cease to preach Christ, then turn me out of that."
Before his death, he was known to say, "The truths I have been preaching, I am now living upon, and they do very well to die upon."
AND now the lyrics to the song of
The Solid Rock (My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less)
Words by Edward Mote (and the melody by William B. Bradbury)
My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus's blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
REFRAIN
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand all other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil.
REFRAIN
His oath, His covenant, His blood Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay.
REFRAIN
When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found,
Dressed in His righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne.
REFRAIN
ON CHRIST, THE SOLID ROCK, I STAND- ALL OTHER GROUND IS
SINKING SAND,
ALL OTHER GROUND IS SINKING SAND.
If you have a loved one or friend that doesn't have a personal relationship with Christ, there is hope.
Edward Mote was one that didn't even have the knowledge that there was a God.
Then it happened, he was introduced to: there is a God and this is who He is...
CHRIST, THE SOLID ROCK.
Now I feel rested. I can carry on. Let the conversations continue!
God richly bless your home as it is transformed into a haven,
Deanna
