So glad you stopped by for a visit.

Every once in a while, we actually see REAL COWBOYS and Cowgirls.

Imagine that....real Cow p e o p l e  

in KANSAS.  

I don't think they were alarmed or thought anything 
about shopping in their everyday clothes.

I like seeing REAL COWBOYS 
shopping at the same places I do especially in the daytime.

I SHOULD THINK THAT THE FLINT HILLS WOULD BE LOADED WITH COW POKES AND FINE LADIES DRESSED IN DAINTY FASHIONS. 
Wouldn't you?

'Life Just Got A little Easier' Crumb Cake

'Life Just Got A Little Easier'

Life gets pretty hectic at times...I think you know what I mean.  Age isn't always a factor or what you are filling your hours doing.  Taking charge sometimes is a must.  Right?  Right.

This cake recipe is a go when needing QUICK and Tasty.  SHE'S FAST.  Only 4 ingredients, pan, baking spray plus oven.  Away you go.

Cherries, Pineapple, Yellow Cake Mix and Butter.

Dump can of Cherry Pie Filling into a greased baking pan.

Dump can of Crushed Pineapple onto Cherries and spread.

Empty boxed Yellow Cake Mix on top of fruit and spread.

Add sliced Butter.

Bake in 350 degree oven for one hour.

Ingredients

• 21 ounces pineapple, crushed
• 21 ounces cherry pie filling
• 1 package yellow cake mix
• 1.5 sticks of butter
 

Instructions 

1) Preheat oven to 350F. 

2) Grease 9×13 cake pan. 

3) Pour cherry pie filling in cake pan and spread it out. 

4) Pour the crushed pineapple (including juice) into cake pan and spread. 

5) Dump boxed cake mix over fruit in pan.  

6) Spread it out evenly with spoon. 

7) Slice your butter and lay the pats on top of the cake. 
8) Bake for 60 minutes.

Life Just Got A Little Easier while dining on the prairie
and it put a SMILE on my face.

Stepford Coffee and Storms

Stepford Coffee isn't as scary as STORMY WEATHER!

Sorry, Folks....but coffee does put a smile on my face.

I'd rather be sippin' on a nice cup of warm coffee than sitting in a storm shelter watching the weather man say, "TAKE COVER......NOW!!!"

Our Spring weather this year has been TORNADO INFESTED.  

Today as I type and recount the week's events, I am comforted by the gentle rain that's falling outside my Family room window.  The cool air is drifting inside as birds chirp.  The television set is on with a Rated G 1998 Universal Cartoon Studios Children's Colored Animation Movie playing....and wouldn't you know it, there's a tornado scene in it.

Not a bad movie for entertainment break. 

Music, songs and adventure.

Wearing ballet slippers and her turquoise dance clothing, Lil Miss is playing on the floor with her Barbies.  She just finished her Lunch of red apple slices dipped into peanut butter, milk with graham crackers and baby carrots.

Maybe later for Snacks, we'll munch on broccoli and sip on orange juice mixed with apple juice.

I need to work a bath in here somewhere before I go to the Court House to purchase Car Tags.  Stopping off at the Post Office to mail some bills and pick up mail.  Will take an afternoon drive and look at the flowers.

When I return HOME, the afternoon will be relaxing as I go through a ton of old papers that need sorted.  I best put some peppy music on the radio so I don't get the afternoon drags and want to take a NAP.

With all the threatening weather, one GOOD THING 

 I learned is 

 that there is a HOME, Kansas.  Noticed it the other night as the Weatherman shared where the TWISTERS were in the Kansas.  What a nice name for a TOWN.   

There is a small community called HOPE as well.

Nice names.

My Folks lived down the street from this little house for over 30 years 
and each time we drove or walked the street, I'd sigh.  

Sure think it's a sweet little house.

Memorial Day 2013

Decorating On The Prairie: Oh So Purdee

~DECORATING ON THE PRAIRIE~

Has been absent for a spell. 

It's been a long haul.

Illness had me by the hair.  

Maybe I should say By The Lung.  
Bronchitis seriously weakened me.  Wheezing to where you could hear me in the next room.

Coughing my toes up.

Etc. not for print.

At one point in here, 

I was saying out loud, "I am a child of the most high God.  

I am a child of the most high God."

This go round was rough on my 'ole body.  

Even if I am an 'old tough bird, I struggled to breathe this time.  

The meds didn't work very well and the nights were restless.

Though I was seriously sick, 

I was not immune to other life issues that mattered.

My oldest brother was admitted into the Hospital, another brother and I had a huge misunderstanding,  a sister-in-law won't speak to me, the Moore Oklahoma Tornado happened.

Things are not always pleasant On The Prairie.

Just being real here.

There seems to be a serious clean-up in the works.

 I'm much better, but not sure about some close relationships to me.

Sigh.

More healing needed.

 

The OH SO PURDEE part came with thanksgiving 

when I came across a Estate Sale that I wasn't expecting 

and seeing the evening sky after horrific weather.  

The glass dish purchased at the Estate Sale is large.

The decorative balls on the edge of the dish sure make this PURDEE.  

Glass can break...so can the human heart.

May our hearts not be so fragile as glass.

May you have a delightful time decorating your sweet HOMES.

What did you have? 

I grew up calling LUNCH,
Dinner
and SUPPER,
Supper.

It's the way Mid Westerners TALK from Southwest Kansas.  
Know what I mean?
So important to have a sense of humor.
Makes LIFE a little more enjoyable.
