Ways to Spend Far Less Money
and still enjoy LIFE.
Wanna share.
Hello from The PRAIRIE.
I'm wearing my ruby red slippers
somewhere in the Kansas Flint Hills
and thinking about ways to SAVE money.
Glad you've stopped by,
d
I am a turkey lover.
Gobble Gobble.
Turkey isn't just for Holidays.
Many times I have substituted ground turkey for ground beef.
Pound for pound ground turkey is less expensive
than ground beef and has by far less fat.
That's the secret to saving and feeding your Family for less.
TURKEY and baking it in a small oven.
Turkey works well in Chili, Tacos, Spaghetti, Turkey Burgers,
and Turkey Stuffed Baked Potatoes. You name it, just about anything you use for a ground beef dish can be substituted with ground turkey.
Ground turkey works well
and can be seasoned to taste really great.
Much like Meatloaf, there's Turkey Loaf.
I was given a 24 ounce can of fully cooked turkey and wasn't for sure what to make with it.
Didn't want to make turkey salad sandwiches so I didn't.
Took my chance with Turkey Loaf.
Ground turkey might have been easier to mix up and less time consuming, but decided to take the blunge. I took a fork to the chunk of cooked turkey until it was finely crumbled in the bowl. Seasoned with pepper.
I had really good luck NOT crying when chopping this onion. First, I ran cold water over the onion, sliced the ends off and peeled the onion skin away. Rinsed again and chopped.
Add a half cup of ketch-up to 24 ounces of cooked turkey,
2 TBSP. of dijon mustard,
one chopped onion,
2 eggs,
plus a cup and a half of bread crumbs.
Mix well.
Grease the baking dish.
I placed mixture in my favorite glass meatloaf pan.
Baked for an hour at 350 degrees in small De LONGHI oven.
Add ketchup on top then baked an additional ten minutes.
Allowed Meatloaf to sit in pan for 10 minutes before serving with mashed potatoes and cream style corn.
Was tasty and well liked.
Bon Appetit!
