A highly spirited 4th was pleasant with a supper menu of
hot dogs in buns and condiments,
potato salad,
cole slaw,
baked beans,
spring green salad with catalina dressing,
and iced root beer.
I'm saving the watermelon for Sunday along with specialty round brownies and root beer floats...was way too full to have these things all in one day.
I have alot of fun memories about 4th of July Celebrations. So many. Home-made ice cream and laughter. Walking down the sidewalk trying to write in the air my name with Sparklers. Black snakes that foamed out of a piece of something. Roman Candles whistling from a cone. Brilliant fireworks painting the dark skies with burst of color. A time to celebrate our Country's Independence, time with Family, Fireworks, Food, a time to think about our freedoms and those that have fought for our freedoms...
Today, we also celebrated that the garage roofing was completed. Over the past ten days, my husband did this roofing by himself. Pictures later. Next will be the house roof. We're going from an old greyish white shingle to a 30 year autumn brown. Mercy, can you imagine what life might be like in 30 years?
He took a nap after supper as we girls watched an old 1957 movie starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in 'An Affair To Remember.' Have you seen this one?
Fireworks went off after dark and not just in the movie. The sound was deafening and our little grand-daughter did not like the noise. She said that next year she'd like it better as she wears her new shoes and Santa Claus would be here!!! She's 2 and a half years old. She didn't quite understand what the noise was about and what was going on. Perhaps next year it will be more enjoyable for her. The last few days, the firecrackers have upset her. Our dogs, especially our female Delilah, gets extremely aggitated at the local firecrackers.
Restful Sunday? I pray so. My blood pressure has been elevated and I'm working at lowering it with drinking more water, less coffee, drinking low sodium V8 with added green food to it, walking more and watching the sodium intake. I had been taking a medicine for acid reflux and I think perhaps it has elevated the blood pressure. Stopped the medicine and if this doesn't help...a visit to the doctor. Frown.

Before I forget...PRAYER REQUESTs.
On Tuesday, our eldest son, Anthony, will be going to Israel and returning July 20th on his 10 year wedding anniversary. Our daughter-in-law is pregnant and will remain in the states with their two young children.
Prayers for safety and protection much appreciated.
