JUST RAN OUT OF GAS

THANKFULLY IT WASN'T THE CAR THAT RAN OUT OF GAS....it was me.  Not stranded on the side of the road.  The last few days I have had to return HOME before all the errands were ran.  Too tired to keep going.  It's the pits.

Easy taking a NAP.  Went from daylight to being dark in the room when I woke up.  Hubby by my side.  Both of us napping in our chairs.  Oddly, I was still so tired I had no trouble sleeping when I went to bed for the night.  ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzs.

Went to the doctor earlier in the day and got an antibiotic.  I just couldn't keep going.  Ran a fever the night before and continued to cough clearing my throat as if I were imitating starting an engine of a car.  This cough thing has kept me bound up and losing gumption.  I'm hoping the antibiotic does the trick. My chest had begun to ache, running a low fever, ribs seem like they were locking up when I turned to side, tickle in throat, discolored mucus, cough, cough, cough.

The nurse told me it would be POLITE to wear one of those face masks when leaving doctor's appointment.  Lovely garb.

Doing my best to cover my mouth when coughing.

I will try again to go to BED BATH AND BEYOND for a few needed bathroom items such as new bath mat and shower curtains to freshen up the clawfoot tub.  TIME to scrub the bathroom down.

I'd like to go to the grocery store and get some fresh fruit and vegetables.  A few more steps to having a really clean interior to the fridge.  Makes me smile.

Next week I have to go in to have my glasses worked on.  Then there's my crown needing replaced.  I am looking at the glorious month of February.  Here it is FEBRUARY!  CHRISTMAS decorations completely put away.  All the bedrooms tidied and cleaned.  Fridge cleaned.  Spare room continued to be worked on.  It should be.  February will be a sweet month.  One day closer to SPRING is my mantra.  grins.

Have a BLESSED day,
d

WAY TO GO WEDNESDAY!

WAY TO GO.....it's Wednesday.  Waking to snow on the ground, the view was beautiful.  So much white I smiled at NATURE's coverup.  Much prettier than the mud the day before.  This Wednesday was embraced by watching and listening to the IMPEACHMENT TRIAL.

At 64, I have NEVER watched so much television about impeachment.  It has been very informing and entertaining.  I have watched much about this impeachment trial, not just today.  I hope to listen to more this week if I can.  Last week-end I contacted my Senators via email.  This was interesting.  When I lived in Tulsa, I did watch some of the Clinton Trial when Mr. Clinton was being questioned.  He reminded me of a little boy who got his hand caught in the cookie jar.

I hope there will be witnesses in this trial.

Blessings to you,
d

Busy Bee

VERY PRODUCTIVE DAY YESTERDAY and today I feel it.  This happens to me when I stay really physically busy one day and the next...well.  I get through the day and then the next day is awful.  Pacing myself is an art form that I have been getting use to.  I know I'll pay for it one way or another.

Bit the bullet and got one.

Paid the Natural Gas bill by phone (this was worthwhile saving energy and time), cancelled auto insurance on a car we turned loose of, researched medicines for more budget friendly product, went by McDonalds to get some unsweetened iced tea and chicken nuggets for a hunger saver, drove 15 miles over to the Court House to surrender the car tag, journeyed to Topeka so Hubby could have some blood work done, GOD's STOREHOUSE THRIFT SHOP for a peanut butter cookie and cheap coffee, fueled the auto, early supper with nice visit together as Husband and Wife, Menards for a collapsible wagon and Watkins ALL PURPOSE CLEANER...then drove by the small cottage to check things over.  By this time I am tired.  Drove HOME in the dark and put my feet up.  Fell asleep in the chair.

Television comes on late at night for some PBS entertainment.  HOWARDS END.

About the Show 2020

Often considered E.M. Forster’s masterpiece, Howards End is the story of two independent and unconventional sisters and the men in their lives seeking love and meaning as they navigate an ever-changing world.
Academy Award winning screenwriter Kenneth Lonergan brings a fresh take to this adaptation. Margaret Schlegel (Hayley Atwell, Captain America: The First Avenger) is an intelligent, idealistic young woman who is courted by the older Henry Wilcox (Matthew Macfadyen, Succession), a self-made conservative businessman, after his wife Ruth Wilcox (Julia Ormond) dies unexpectedly and he becomes owner of Howards End.
Meanwhile Margaret’s passionate and capricious younger sister Helen Schlegel (Philippa Coulthard) takes up the cause of Leonard Bast (Joseph Quinn), a young bank clerk who falls on hard times at work and at home with his partner Jacky (Rosalind Eleazar). In the absence of their late parents, the sisters’ loving but interfering Aunt Juley (Tracey Ullman) tries to keep the young ladies and their brother Tibby (Alex Lawther) on the straight and narrow.

A few years ago I saw the 1992 version with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson.  Seriously, I like the 2020 version better.

THEN THERE's SANDITON and VIENNA BLOOD.

Off to bed and slept like a rock.  The tireds carried over into Tuesday morning.  There's that paying for a previous active day.  That's fine.  I will do what I can inside the house at a slow pace.  So very tired.

I'd like to shampoo my hair, curl it in huge curlers to air dry.  After it's dried, go wash and dry some bed sheets, make up the Guest bed with fresh sheets.  Not sure how far I will get as tired as I am.  Play it by ear.  For now...it's coffee time.

Often I give it thought as to what needs done around here as I am the Head Housekeeper and Mistress.  This week the Bedrooms will be worked on getting them presentable.  Much clutter to deal with.  I need a staff.

It's suppose to snow today.  I'd love to watch the flakes gently swirl downwards.  Forget the blizzards.

Like this idea and may use it to store a multitude of china cups.

Almost the middle of the week.
Be BLESSED,
d

HELLO STRANGER!

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING?
On the Victorian Parlour Settee with some good looking dolls.

THIS SUNDAY EVENING I am somewhat tired.  Ended up taking a NAP to regain some energy. We spent yesterday and most of today shuffling furniture.  Now it looks like the HOUSEKEEPER is just really messy.  This is the last week of January with hopes that by February 1st the rooms will be looking well.  Maybe start hanging some real pictures.

We've been switching bedrooms.  Making memories.  Remember when we switched the two bedrooms?  Oh yah.  That was the January day the temp rose to 55 and we were inside dusting after being sick for so long.

What I call the VICTORIAN ROOM (grey colored walls) is now the VINTAGE ROOM.  The VINTAGE ROOM (aqua colored walls) is now the VICTORIAN ROOM.  I LOVE IT!!!

This is like early SPRING CLEANING with all the dusting getting done.  I should have taken a picture of the dust pile...well maybe not.  It was huge.  To think all of this dust was under the furniture made my head hurt.  The chair rails and baseboards are being dusted as well.  The floor and the furniture.  So the bedrooms will be so much cleaner.  They really needed some attention.  Attention they got.

IN THIS PARTICULAR KANSAS HOUSE you need to make friends with dust?  It tends to invade your privacy and out wear it's welcome.  I have never lived in a house that was so dusty.  We had the duct work professionally cleaned so hopefully the dust won't be so bad.  After this early early early SPRING CLEANING in ze WINTER, perhaps the dust will be more manageable.  I sure hope so.  Lord help.

I get this go round all dusted upstairs, I'll return to the main floor and freshen up the Living room and Dining room.  The KITCHEN is an everyday thing.  The JUNQUE ROOM or spare room soon to be the TV room will get a work order.  Getting settled in our HOME is like taming a living creature.  Take it by the horns or get bowled over.  Staying focused takes some discipline.

SO PLEASED!

Mercy, it's like moving again.  Lots of muscle and sweat to break down beds, carry pieces and mattresses with boxsprings to a different room then set beds back up.  SHUFFLING big pieces.  Dusting along the way.

The swap has taken place.  The pieces of furniture are in their new locations.  Bed, dresser, settee, two parlour chairs, small coffee table, wash stand are in the NEW VICTORIAN ROOM.  The VINTAGE BEDROOM has the bed, vanity, victorian chair, chest of drawers.  Not so crowded in the bedrooms.  I like this.  Aiming for less clutter and neater appearance.

Gathering pictures to hang on the walls.  Much to put away that needs additional work.  A new location for some dolls is needed.  Right now they are resting on the VICTORIAN BED as I gathered up dolls from two other rooms.  Not sure where they will go, but for now they are all together on the bed.  One big HAPPY FAMILY.

HOPEFULLY it will be soon that the bed is empty again
and just has the bears on it waiting to greet Grandkids that will sleep on this Guest BED.

The room is very cheery and I like that.
Sunshine streaming through the lace curtains.

Will take some more pics after the rooms are completely tidied.  Right now both rooms are still in the works and a huge mess.

I keep praying for energy and the stamina to get this shuffling and cleaning done.  I am surprising myself how little energy I do have.  I don't own it.

God bless and may you have
a HAPPY HOME the way you like,
d

Shriveled Lemons and Rotten Peppers

Doesn't sound very appetizing does it, but this is what I found in the fridge when cleaning it out.  The blueberries and grapes were next to petrified.  Putrified.  Lettuce and Spring Greens were mushy and not well suited to eat due to being past their prime inside plastic containers.  Spongy apples and celery beyond limp.  The stench was not pleasant.  Peppers with fuzz mounds.  Out you go.

My stash of fruits and vegetables have been there since before Christmas.  6 weeks ago since I was well enough to eat salads and desserts where I didn't side step the jello and 7-up.  Crackers. Sometimes I crave crackers with cheese.

Deliberately desiring to eat better.  Greens and fresh fruits.  Smoothies full of nutrients.  Sounds really good to me just about now.  My dear Husband has taken very good care of me as I was ailing.  Very good care.  I love him so.

Planning to make another trip to market to purchase fruits and veggies in the near future.  I still want to wash the inside of the fridge and inventory the freezer contents.  Longing for more order and having my pantry better accessible.  Not a biggie.  Needed to say the least.  The weather will need to be less wet if possible.  I have a few days before that will happen.  Trying to stay well.

Some television was watched today.  Youtube.  Watching parts of the IMPEACHMENT TRIAL.  Hear and there.  I have to be careful when making comments about D.J.T.  Some do not like to hear that he is a bit of a bully.  Doesn't like to lose.

As of October 2019, he called some republicans human scum.  Those who criticized him are scum.  To what degree is he willing to take criticism?  He has said he has all the information and the managers of the Impeachment Trial have none...If he doesn't allow documentation and witnesses during the Impeachment Trial how will he have a fair trial?  Tis unbalanced.

As their strategy unfolds, it is a drama that will be recorded in the History books.  Impeached President may remain in office and successfully be re-elected for another term.

There is a danger that he will do something truly awful in which he will not be allowed to be investigated by Congress.  A dictator awakens.  Congress will no longer be needed for checks and balances.  I pray this does not happen.

Petrified and putrified,
d

The Tortoise and the Hare (Disney 1934)

SNOW OUTSIDE covers all.  The heater is keeping us warm.  Thankful it's working well.  Thankful.  Today, I am much better health wise.  Asthmatic coughing occasionally.  Energy level a tad bit better.  A cold can plow over some people.  I have become one of those people.  This WINTER has been challenging.

I should cut out paper snowflakes to display in the windows dangling about.  Simple pleasure to lift my spirits.  Instead, I am thumbing through magazines that were hidden away in a computer bag.  The plastic cover still unopened.  Easter from Martha Stewart's LIVING and Taste of Home's April/May issue.  I never missed looking at these last Spring.  Too busy or what?  Maybe looking at SPRING ISSUES will get me excited that SPRING is one day closer.

"Come along children.  We must not doddle.  Keep busy.  Keep moving."  These words echo in my mind.  I remember school when I was a child.  We had to stay busy each school day even when the weather was awful.  Busy.  Busy.  Busy.  Motion in action.  Motion in motion.

Indoor's SPORTS is furniture shuffling.  Deep cleaning and rearranging rooms.  I am truly what one would call S.L.O.W.  Sloooooooooow.  Oh so slow.

The Tortoise and the Hare comes to mind.  Steady is the course.  Finish strong.  I'd rather be energetic like the hare.  Reliable like the tortoise.  Truthfully, Toby, the Tortoise is focussed and determined to finish the race.  Perhaps being a TOBY is the better way to be.

Can we have it both ways?  I watched this 1934 short film.  Put a huge smile on my face.  Warmed my ambition.  Back to it and soon the rooms will be rearranged and I will be able to admire the rooms.  Lord willing.

I am pleased with the new Master Bedroom arrangement adding the Tall Boy and taking away the Pencil Desk.  Filling the Tall Boy with my articles and giving my Hubby more drawer space in the dresser seems more functional.  Glad it is done.

Great week.  Got to feeling better after 6 weeks of being ill.  Caught up on laundry.  Rearranged the Master Bedroom.  Deep cleaning the bedrooms this Winter.  Started on rearranging the two other bedrooms.  The week-end cometh.  I so hope all the bedrooms are finished by Sunday night and the fridge totally cleaned out.  This would make me pleasantly happy this Winter.

✔A big check off my 'THINGS TO DO LIST.'  Leaving room for more to do before FEBRUARY arrives.  Deep cleaning the main bathroom during February.  The Bathroom is falloff tile that needs scrubbed.  The Bedrooms in January.

JANUARY: Deep Clean the Bedrooms and rearrange rooms.
FEBRUARY: Deep Clean the Bathrooms.
Spare room worked in.
MARCH: Spare room.
Stop there.

Blessings,

Grey Skies Won't Stop Me. YOU IS KIND. YOU IS SMART. YOU IS IMPORTANT.

HAVING A HEATED HOME IN THE COLD WINTER IS A TRUE BLESSING.  TRUE BLESSING.  Quickly the repair man changed out the heater motor and computer board after he returned the next day.  We stayed warm while the heater was out by using electrical heaters and bundling up.  We slept well in our cooler house until he returned and did his magic.  Perhaps the bill will magically go poof  disappearing into the sunset.

We weren't out of heat for long.  Thankfully.  The heater is running again and we are staying indoors with predicted rain and more snow in the forecast.  Skies have returned to being grey shades of dreary with the wind blowing invisible kisses that make the face red and the heart cold.  Brrrr.  I have got to focus on the good things in this LIFE as I tend to not like the Winter weather.

These cold months are perfect for deep cleaning the house and organizing if you have your health.  Making Spring plans for gardening and yard work as well.  Gathering things to sell or turn loose of.  Not idle.  Busy hands.

The cough that has been keeping house in my body is slowly disappearing.  Still present, but gentler on my 'ole frame work.  No fever or that kind of chills.  The DayQuil works at keeping the cough at bay and quieting the wheezes.  Thank you Lord that I am getting better.  It has been a rough WINTER.  Ruff.

Finally.  Finally, I got my hair shampooed and curled.  Tis a big event to get this done these days as it grows increasingly more challenging to get it taken care of quickly,  Take a deep breath and sigh.

PRAISE THE LORD!!!  I can look at the bottom of the laundry baskets as the loads and loads and loads of laundry are caught up!!!  CAUGHT. UP.  Ahhhhh.  I am relieved to be here at this stage.  RELIEVED.  I was trying to speak in a language to my Husband as to how this feels to be satisfied that the laundry is caught up.  LIKE working on a work project that took two years to complete and it finally is completed and given the word IT's A GO.

As we headed HOME from the Laundromat, it was sprinkling rain.  Temps falling.  We watched the Impeachment Trial while at the Laundromat and once we got HOME, did the same until it finished for the night.

On the first day of the trial, I listened while editing my blog.  Multi-tasked.  At one point I fell asleep.  A POWER NAP giving me energy to stay up late.  Looking at the old post in my blog brought happy memories to mind and heart.  I seldom look at old post.  Twas enjoyable.  I'm working at grouping the labels to downsize so there are not so many.  Not sure I will ever get finished with this as I am slower than molasses.  By the way molasses is a great way to add IRON to one's diet.  Hot water and molasses sipped in the morning could be an alternate for coffee.  Hum.

Now to get onto cleaning out the fridge/freezer to sanitize, organize and take inventory of the goods.  I'd like to use up what's in the freezer to help the BUDGET.  We're in the adjustment period where the last paycheck arrived and waiting for the social security to kick in.  We are stretching the cash as best we can.  One of my crowns popped off, the sewer backed up and the heater went out.  UNWANTED unexpected expenses.

Seems like LIFE is full of these.

Watched the 2011 movie THE HELP checked out from the public Library.  Enjoyed it once again.  One benefit of checking out movies is it's a thrifty way to be entertained in the slow of the evening.

Minny had been teaching Celia to cook.  I love the scene where Minny is going to work and sees Celia Foote's Husband waiting for her who escorts Minny inside to the Dining room where Celia prepared a formal Chicken fried meal with all the fixings all by herself.  A beautiful table awaits Minny as their guest in their HOME.

There are so many scenes in this movie that spoke to my soul.  Forgetting how much I liked this show in 2011.  Now 9 years later, it is fresh like a new flick to watch.

Now for a few chores before the day gets away from me.  I am The HELP.  I am ze maid.  I am the housekeeper and main bottle washer.  An afternoon NAP is calling my name.  I may just have to ignore it as I want to clear out a desk so it can be shuffled about the house.  My goals are little ones since I cannot move very fast due to weakness. I am getting a few things done and that's praiseworthy enough.

Just remember, YOU IS KIND.  YOU IS SMART.  YOU IS IMPORTANT.  YOU IS KIND.  YOU IS SMART.  YOU IS IMPORTANT.

Blessings to all,
d

Walking In A Winter Wonderland - Dean Martin

HUMMING to myself 'Walking In A Winter Wonderland'.....catchy tune. Decided to see on youtube if this was on there and sure enough there was Dean'o singing it.  I needed some WINTER CHEER as the cold weather isn't my thing.  BUNDLE UP BUTTERCUP. So Dean was singing to me and it did cheer me up some.

Our sewer backed up into the basement last week.  Unexpected expense.  Got that taken care of with no damage.  This morning my DEAR HUBBY said something was wrong with the main floor heater with the outside temps in the single digits.  The two misfortunes are not connected.

He went to the hardware store to purchase a small heating unit.  This is taking the edge off of the chill in the Living room.  He's looking into the heater to see if he can fix it.  Pray he can.

I've got to get my morning shower out of the way so I can watch the TRUMP TRIAL beginning at noon in our time zone.  Am curious how this will go.

Too cold to go to TOPEKA today.  Will stay HOME.
Sippin' HOT coffee.
The best thing I can do is to stay HOME.

Today in the mail were three magazines advertisements, 3 actual  magazines, 1 jewelry sales catalog, and about 6 medical advertisements for me encouraging me to turn 65 in JULY.  This is a lot of mail for me as I seldom get so much.

My health is improving.  Not coughing as much, but still have a scratchy throat.  DayQuil today. Only had one dose of it yesterday and I did better.  Pray health continues to improve as 6 weeks of this down time has been a downer.

Welp, I had better take care of business.
Blessings to you and yours,
d

Welcome!

Tis so cold outside the warmth in our HOME is even more welcoming. When you are not able to take the outside cold, then the heat inside is even more attractive.  I still like a blanket across my lap.

My heavy coat does help defer the cold when I'm outside walking to the car.  It was COLD.  Noticeably cold.  5 loads of laundry were done yesterday.  5...bingo.  That's a good feeling knowing the laundry is getting done.  The TV at the matt was on a station talking about the Trump Trial coming this week.  It was interesting to listen to as I waited for the loads to finish.  I wonder how this trial well go?  I hope to watch it.  Trump is impeached now a trial.  History in the making.  I remember watching part of the Clinton Trial way back when we lived in Oklahoma in a run down rental we found ourselves living in trying to recover from debt.  Clinton stayed in office.  I wonder if Trump will get to do the same.

One more big basket full of laundry to do this week then I will wash some bedding and bathroom rugs.  Scrub down the tub and scour the tile floor.  Purchase some new shower curtains and wash the old ones to use in the automobiles when hauling plants, trash, etc.

This will be nice to be caught up!  So nice.  THEN I will jump in and work on the spare room.  This will take some time.  Probably a February project.

BUT FIRST!...I've been thinking a great deal about switching the GUEST BEDROOMS.  This hasn't been without time and thought going into it.

The Victorian furniture would fit better in the other room that has my Husband's Grandparents furniture in it.  I haven't hung any pictures yet.  Thinking I would like to switch the furniture and yet it doesn't just happen with great ease.  The mattresses and boxsprings would have to go as well and they are bulky and weighty.  I can see the rooms in my mind and think it would be a great switch to make, then hang pictures and call it good.

Still coughing, but not as much.  The DayQuil helps me plus Albuterol which opens the air passages.  I'll continue the Vitamin C.  This has been a long strung out illness since the middle of December.  Resting, but my mind wonders all over the place taking into account all that needs done or wanting done.  This is the part of being ill that needs more discipline.  THE IMAGINATION.  I have been so sick before, the thinking didn't take place.  This isn't the case.  Yes, I am weak, sickly and tired, but the 'ole brain is functioning just fine.

The energy I have today must go into showering then shampooing and conditioning my hair then trim it.  Style and return to my housecoat.

More laundry tomorrow knowing the outside temps are bitter.  Snow in the forecast for Wednesday.  Better see if I can mustard up some energy to go to SAMs and get some more ICE MELT and go to JUDEE's for fancy coffee at a dollar and a half instead of STARBUCK'S $5 cup.  I like Starbucks, but while we're counting pennies switching from having a regular paycheck to Social Security, the pennies must be watched.

By March, I hope I'm up and running plus we'll be one day closer to SPRING!  Awesome SPRING!!!  Am hoping and praying that this SPRING my feet will be all better and I can return to walking with ease.  Dear LORD, you know my hearts cry.

All the best to you,
d

SUNDAY Blessings To You

THIS SUNDAY the skies are blue and it looks like a warmer day outside then what it really is.  The heater is running to warm the house.  This system makes quite a bit of noise when it's running.  We are into our third WINTER here heating our PRAIRIE HOUSE in small town America.  I'm more use to the sound than in the beginning.  Another adjustment to make in the department of frequent noises.  In the rock house, it was the trains.  Thunder storms had an echoing sound that was different to what was in a clapboard house.  The thunder sounds here sound like it did in my childhood home.  When car doors close, it is easily heard.  People walking by can be heard talking.  It was a different environment in the rock house across the river.  I miss the quiet of the steam heated radiators that we had.  And the house was not as dusty as this one even though we have had the duct work cleaned last October.

We moved in May of 2017.  We are still going through boxes of paper and stuff.  A very slow process for us.  It is easy for me to forget that this needs to be dealt with until I see it staring me in the face.

Yesterday, we moved a piece of furniture.  The HIGHBOY has been moved to our BEDROOM which means the old PENCIL DESK that's there will be moved to the SPARE ROOM today. DOING THE SHUFFLE.  Shuffle.

The WINTER is a great time to do deep cleaning and shuffle furniture.  I was embarrassed to see so much dust that had gathered in the bedroom.  I have fallen down on the job around here due to illness and lack of energy.

Our HIGHBOY will resemble the furniture style that we have.  It's not the same coloring, but that will have to do.

I feel a NAP coming on after LUNCH.  I suspect this is happening due to being ill.  WAKE UP!  Off to the laundromat I go, again.  I have to get caught up.  I just don't have peace of mind when I am running so far behind.  Just me.

Welp...disappointment comes in all sizes, doesn't it?  Watched the movie TROOP ZERO.  Liked it until the talent show scene where they ruined the movie by showing children urinating on stage.  Sorry they did this.  Thumbs down.  The line where the Troop Momma says, "I worry about you, Christmas."  doesn't describe the disappointment I had after the stage scene.  This could have easily been a FAMILY FRIENDLY MOVIE until....not a good choice.

To my understanding the trial will begin this week concerning removing President Trump out of office.  Officially he is impeached.  To my ignorance, I thought once a President was impeached that meant he was removed from office until President Clinton was impeached, but was not removed from office.

I suspect President Trump will remain in office even after this trial.  I suspect he will be re-elected as our President.  If you want to get in a quick argument with someone on facebook just bring up your support for the President or suggest removing him from office.  In all my days, the push to limit people to two classes has never been so noticeable.  You're either for trump or against him as a democrat or a republican.  There is no HAPPY MEDIUM.  In reality, people are classified in more then two classes, but in the media world there are only two.  You're a democrat or a republican.  Zip.  Zang.  Zoey.  That's it.  Not possible to be anything but......name calling begins and the insults are slung.  So much energy goes into branding a person to a political party.  I'm coming from a mindset that there is more to life than this.

When a politician slings slop toward their opponent, some of the public roars about how awful this is giving license to name call the political party and sling slop.  Huh?  Not alright for the running candidate to do this, but alright for others that say it's wrong to do it then do the same.  No.  This isn't right all the way around.

When Jesus walked the earth there was a similar philosophy where some people believed that Jesus was going to rescue them from the Roman Empire.  Not even close.  HE had other things in the works.

In my little corner of the world in Kansas, I just felt a gentle earthquake tremor.  That was different.  Jeepers, Mr. Wilson.  4.4 over by Hutchinson.  We're about 152 miles away from Hutch!  That's quite a quake.

Now time to do some laundry.
Blessings to you,
d

Saturday Sassy

ICED IN on FRIDAY for sure.  Here it is SATURDAY.  Getting ready to carry a basket of laundry to the car and get out of the house for my prescribed hour out.  Good medicine for my soul.  Get out of the house for an hour.  If more time happens so be it.  Still good.  The sun is shinning today.  Temps are still cold, but it seems easier to handle with the sunshine.  34 degrees.  Bundle up.

THINGS COLDS OFTEN THRIVE ON.
Check this out:
✔️WET FEET...no wet feet.
✔️DRAFTS...no drafts.
✔️FATIQUE...yes.
✔️DROPLET INFECTION...probably.
✔️TEMPERATURE CHANGES...absolutely.  Almost daily.
✔️DIRECT CONTACT...only with my honey and he is well.

Am still weak from so much coughing.  Hubby fixed me a teaspoon of honey with a 1/4th teaspoon of cinnamon.

Honey AND cinnamon are both antiviral, antibacterial and anti fungal.  Sounds like a great thing to take.

I have continued to cough going on 5 weeks, I think it is.  Off and on.  It's hard on my ancient body.  Cough syrup only goes so far and cough drops do.  Back to the doctors. Wonder if he will look at me odd if I ask for a TB check?

The start to the new year has been full of health issues.  I would like to get over this crud and be energized!  First I would like to take the honey/cinnamon concoction and see if it works for lil ole me.

Have a blessed day!

Scratching At My Window

Under a Winter Weather Advisory.  Cold, rainy, icy weather on her way.  Hoping the power doesn't go off.

I try to blog just about everyday.  Not always able to do so.  THURSDAY got away from me.  Tis FRIDAY again so quickly.

Recalling THURSDAY...Hung a beautiful VINTAGE mirror in our Dining room.  Have hopes of hanging pictures throughout the house this WINTER.  The walls lack them.
More paperwork gone through.
Bills worked on.
City bill physically paid.  Receipt.
Drove over to pay the house payment.  Receipt.
Quarters bought for laundry.
Treat Hubby to supper at the Mexican Restaurant.
Locate some Ice Melt for sidewalks.  Ice storm coming.
Many of the stores are out.
Found some.  Wish I had bought the bargain when we were last at Sams.  Will need to replenish our supply in a few days.  Perhaps I should return and get some more next Tuesday when it is Senior Day Discount at the Thrift Shoppe.  Okay.  Hit two birds with one stone.  Make the trip count.
Sprinkled Ice Melt on the sidewalks.
4 loads of laundry completed.  Washed, dried, hung, transferred to closets.  Many more loads to do.  Far behind due to illness this past month.  Hate it when this happens.
Rest and watched a movie.
WYATT EARP again.  With Kevin Costner as Wyatt.

I was studying about LIFE when Wyatt Earp walked the earth.  Not nearly as glamorous as the movies make it seem.  Wyatt ran brothels and the movies failed to portray this part of his life. Reprobate.  Deviate.  Wasn't shy with the prostitutes, gambling, smoking and killing.

The movies got the killing down.  Much of what was published back in the day was sugar coated fiction and puffed into what it wasn't so the person appeared more spectacular then what they were.

Doc Holliday traveled and lived with Big Nose Kate who was a prostitute.  So if she delivered the goods for whoever paid her then slept with Doc, he was exposed to whatever and so was she.

James Earp used his wife the same way.  She was a prostitute as well and so was the so called love of Wyatt's life, Josie.  Prostitute first, lust interest second.

Read that if their prostitutes were arrested that the prostitute would use her handler's last name to protect her identity.

The 1994 version about Wyatt does share that he was a horse thief that was in jail where his Dad helped him escape so he would not get hung.  Kevin Costner did a decent portrayal of this outlaw turn Law Officer.  Wyatt was a lost soul.

Many women turned to prostitution to make a living.  Many.

Waking before 4 this morning was a surprise.  I just woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed like a squirrel.  I slept in the recliner as I thought I would sleep more sound as I continue to cough.  This cough is TAKING IT OUT of my 'ole body.

I can hear the outside rainy sounds scratching the glass of the windows as it hits the window.  ICE.  We were suppose to get more moisture during the dark hours of the night.  Well, I think the Weatherman was accurate this go round.  Will probably be iced in this FRIDAY.

The fridge has milk and coffee creamer in her along with HAMBURGER SOUP and eggs.  Still wanting to clean the fridge out...just haven't made it that far.  Will happen, just not sure when.

THURSDAY was a day that included getting four loads of clothing washed and dried, hung on hangers and placed in the closets.  With being sick for a month, the laundry piled up and I am digging out from under it.  At the rate I am going, I will be at this for some time.  Once again, I will see the bottom of the baskets and sigh.

Today, it will be exciting to sort through the baskets once again making some order out of chaos. I want to get caught up with this task so I can with a clear conscience continue working through the spare room boxes that need emptied.  The NEW television room will come together very slowly.

THURSDAY was a brain storming day as HUBBY and I gave it some more deep thought as to how we will make it as a retired couple.  DEEP THOUGHTS.  Deep thoughts.  More.  Sometimes this kind of GROWN UP THINKING gets to me.  I have to take it in small samplings.  We did pray.  This is helpful.

This first year, I want to continue to thin down our clutter.
Clean out the junk room and make it a television room.  A new floor will be laid as we have the wood already.
Shuffle some furniture by placing the HIGHBOY into our Master Bedroom transferring an old desk to the NEW TV room.
Group all the mismatched papers into a basket and have it ready for sorting.
Thin out old magazines.
Organize photos.  Group them in a local location.
Hang some more pictures on the walls of our HOME.
Finish painting the Dining room.
Hang a chandy in the Living room.
Paint the old valances that are original to the house and install them into the Master Bedroom.
Paint and stain the stairs.
Clear up and paint the cottage across the river.
The screened-in porch needs seriously repaired.
Sew a period dress.
Clear out the cottage garage.
Sort through the basement and get it completely organized knowing what all the boxes hold.
Sell a couple of old cars.
Walk and keep a walking journal.
Replace the entryway tile and make it beautiful.

Have mercy.  I wonder how far I will get?
This is not in concrete,

Thyroid Labs | Understanding Your Thyroid Lab Results | Comprehensive Panel

AFTER 9 YEARS of dealing with Thyroid health due to having no thyroid because of cancer, this video cleared the air on the test that the so called thyroid specialist doctors formally called Endocrinologist avoid addressing. Very frustrating. If you continue to return to the doctors that will not address these health issues and symptoms then they will still take your money and not care if you feel awful. Hey it all pays the same to them, but you will continue to suffer. DIGGING DEEPER and finding out why and what I can do about ill health.

THIS MAY BE THE YEAR THAT I BLOG A GREAT DEAL.  Might publish several times a day.
    Shall be busy...........

    THIS OLE WINTER has me.
    Get up!
    Get up!!!

Being sick caused some issues that hopefully will vanish as I heal up and get stronger.  I got out yesterday, just to go HOME before I got my laundry completed.  Will try again today.  Took a short drive across the river to eat a TACO BURGER and munch on nacho cheese.  Diet root beer was too sweet.  Went over to Retirement Cottage, worked a little and then stopped by to say, "Hey!" to some family.  Was bushed by this time and went on HOME.

Will get out early this afternoon and go straight to the laundromat.  Wash the towels, dry and fold.  Return HOME and put towels away!  Consider it a great success.  Amen.

Go at it again on Wednesday with shirts that need attention.
Temps are cold and skies are grey.  I am a bit weary today.  HAVE THOUGHTS ABOUT SPRING.  Beautiful Spring.

Admire the beauty that's all around me.  Bundle up and stay dry.

A great day for HAMBURGER STEW or some call it Hamburger Soup,

    Hamburger Soup

    • Total: 45 min
    • Active: 25 min
    • Yield: 12 servings

    Ingredients

    2 1/2 pounds ground chuck
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 stalks celery, diced
    1 large onion, diced
3 cups beef stock or broth, plus more if needed
    One 14.5-ounce can whole tomatoes
    3 tablespoons tomato paste
    2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
    1/2 teaspoon ground oregano
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, or more to taste
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or more to taste
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more to taste
5 red potatoes, cut into chunks
4 carrots, peeled and sliced on the diagonal
1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 yellow bell pepper, seeded and diced
    Crusty bread, for serving.

    Directions

    1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, brown the meat with the garlic, celery and onions. Remove the pot from the heat and drain off as much fat as you can. (Discard the fat once it cools.)
    2. Return the pot to the heat and add the beef stock, tomatoes, tomato paste, parsley, oregano, salt, black pepper, cayenne, potatoes, carrots and green, red and yellow bell peppers. Stir to combine, then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pot and simmer until the potatoes are tender but not overly mushy, 15 to 20 more minutes. The soup should be somewhat thick, but if you'd like it to be more "soupy," add 1 to 2 cups more broth OR hot water and heat through. Taste and adjust the seasonings, adding more salt, black pepper or cayenne if needed.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
