Had a extremely rough night and not much better day. Best thing to do is rest, take meds and stay hydrated. Pray, pray, pray. Lots of water.
I was prescribed Albuterol inhaler 4 times a day, Prednisone for three days and Azithromycin for 5 days. I have a regular fan oscillating in the room and have a small humidifier going. Sipping HOT tea with caffeine, sucking on cough drops, taking cough syrup, taking honey. Switch out the toothbrush once a month. It would be a good thing to wash and disinfect the toothbrush daily. The cough has been horrendous. Plain awful that doesn't go away.
This was the first time to use urgent care. Hubby got on the computer to enter my name in to be seen. Because of cov id you are notified when you are to head to the clinic and come into the building. Sit in your car until they notify you. When I entered the clinic, I had a multitude of papers to fill out and wasn't finished before the nurse called me into the exam room. She asked questions, took my temp and blood pressure. I sat in the exam room I think about an hour before the nurse came back in the room to check my blood oxygen level then I waited a while more. I went through the alphabet conjuring up fruits and vegetables per each letter to create an alphabet diet that I might give a whirl after I heal up from this bronchitis.
I'm using HOME REMEDIES in addition to medicines. Read up on bronchitis and how to treat it. I'm not a good patient when on the verge of panic. What can I do, but pray and follow instructions by the PA and which Dr. GOOGLE says can be done.
I thought I could kick this and should have gone sooner last week to the doctor for medical attention. I'm hard headed and try to poo poo symptoms. WORD TO THE WISE...don't ignore the symptoms. They don't go away. The PA said if I'm not better in a couple of days to go see my regular doctor. That means if I'm still struggling with this on Tuesday, I'll go see my doc. HOPEFULLY, I WILL BE BETTER.
I cannot do this smoke thing again. It is way too hard on an old woman with asthma. The smoke thing being the Kansas Flint Hills Prescribed BURN for the beautiful prairie.
The prescribed burning of the prairie did a number on my health this Spring. At the end of February through May 1st, the prescribed burning of the prairie takes place each year. This year it was noticeably worse as the smoke settled in the valley where I live. The wind has not helped blow the smoke away. I cannot stay in the area next year while they burn the prairie. I can't or I'll be sick all over again to where it is debilitating. The smoke is intense and affects many in a bad way. The quality of the air is horrible and yet, it is legal and encouraged to burn each year for all the reasons they say. Those with asthma develop bronchitis which can turn into pneumonia.
If I had known to use the humidifier and sip hot, caffeine tea, I would have been doing this from the start. I can see how someone with asthma can die. It is awful to be on the other end of this raw deal. Perhaps I can do something to encourage better air quality in my own home. The constant tickle that whirs up in my chest and throat is awful. There is no rest from this until the whirring disappears.
I read about a lung flute. This is something new I wasn't aware existed. https://www.verywellhealth.com/copd-airway-clearance-devices-914996
While I'm healing from this episode of being in the valley of the shadow of death, I say outlaid the Psalm.
I have coughed so hard my head aches and my body hurts. The cough is better since taking some meds then the coughing returns. Each day, I pray to greatly improve.
On Sunday, we managed to transfer our antique mirror to the COTTAGE. We hung it in the living room immediately after arriving. After it was hung, I said I have waited for months for this moment for the piece to finally be here. I cleaned it and went ahh. Also we carried in a old washstand, lamp and wash bowl with pitcher. We made the day count for something about the move even though I wasn't well.
With moving small pieces of furniture a little here and there, it reminds me of the SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION movie where the main character was digging a tunnel to escape from prison and when he went to the main commons area he'd shake a small amount of the dirt from the tunnel that he had in his clothing that he had dug from the tunnel. A little dirt at a time he'd dump and after so long a time, he had made a tunnel to the outside world.
With this move, we are moving small things to the COTTAGE a little at a time then the big pieces will migrate. This week, I'll take over a couple of small chairs, teapot collection, some coats. I'm gathering and grouping in the main house pieces of furniture that we will auction off and pieces of furniture that we will keep for the COTTAGE. It's kind of harry around here as I am moving rather slowly.
Hubby mowed the COTTAGE LAWN and it looks so much better. Next the main house lawn will be mowed. I'll be digging up some more plants to transplant over at the COTTAGE. I can only do so much and so can he. We're slow, but steady.
MAY first is here. The Prairie Burning is over for the year. Perhaps the lungs will heal up and I'll regain my strength to forge ahead.
