THIS PAST WEEK, the wind blew SUMMER in as the temps were in the 80s. In one week, the temps will flex back to almost freezing during the night. KANSAS WEATHER does this. Never know what to expect. A SURPRISE PACKAGE each and everyday. HOWEVER, today was HOT and we did not turn the AIR CONDITIONER on. Ceiling fans were on instead.
Hubby did our TAXES today. Thankful he has them done. There have been times that he ran right up to the wire and we were driving to a different community to get them in the mail before midnight. Nothing like waiting to the last minute. We weren't the only ones waiting in line at the POST OFFICE DROP BOX. I'd rather have them done in the month of MARCH ahead of time avoiding a migraine.
I moved my Geraniums outside that I have WINTERED in the utility room. They were in rough shape. A lot of dried leaves were picked off. I only watered the plants once a week and if I forgot the soil would be bone dried. About half of the pots had to be dumped as the plants didn't make it. sigh. If there be a next year of doing this, I more than likely will have to find a different location to house the plants in.
This week I'll move the metal rack that the plants were on, out away from the wall, clean up the floor and the window that is behind it. The rack that's in the Kitchen is in better shape so I'll do a swap and place it in the Ut room instead of what was there. All the KITCHEN content that's on the rack will have to be removed then relocated.
The rack will serve a better purpose out in the utility room. The one that is presently there will be relocated elsewhere on the estate. Where it shows up will be a mystery.
I want to place a small dinette table and two chairs in the KITCHEN so it's better to have no rack in the Kitchen. The dinette set is in a storage unit way out yonder. That will take a half day to travel there, dig the dinette out of the unit, load up in the car to travel HOME, carry into the house, and thoroughly clean the pieces. LATER after we are more settled, I'd like to have the set stripped and repainted BLACK.
The table will be a temporary OFFICE for me so I can get the paperwork out of the LIVING ROOM.
We will morph right along as we go. This is very slow work.
I rested most of the day as last week caught up with me. We had celebrated my daughter's 44th birthday, traveled to Iowa visiting family celebrating my Mom's 92nd birthday, traveled three states to get HOME, spent the night then journeyed to Wichita to watch the PRE-STATE TRACK and FIELD MEET. Drove some more and visited my Mom's HOME TOWN knowing she wasn't there anymore. Continued to drive HOME. I rested today. Stayed in my HOUSECOAT. Did a little laundry. Worked on moving houseplants outside. Took a much needed NAP. Researched about health issues and the two missing Hugoton, Kansas women.
Law Enforcement arrested four in connection with the missing women. The Grandma confessed to killing the women. The bodies are being retrieved. Kansas and Oklahoma both have the death penalty. Some are speculating that the grandma confessed very quickly to make a deal with the law to avoid the death penalty. As this ugly crime comes to light, information will surface giving a clearer picture of what happened. It's been two weeks since the women went missing.
Murder in the dust bowl. From what we understand the part of Oklahoma that the women went missing in is hard hit with far right winged Christians that are active in organizations like the Sovereign Citizen Movement that believe the laws of the land do not apply to them. There are some surveillance pictures of the grandma that confessed to killing her ex-daughter-in-law wearing a t-shirt saying, JESUS IS MY SAVIOR~TRUMP IS MY PRESIDENT.
I'm not sure how the group of people that were arrested can justify this killing especially when the women that were arrested claimed to be christian. The four that were arrested were Tifani Adams, Tad Cullum, Cora Twombly and Cole Twombly. A babysitter overheard the four planning on killing Tifani's ex-daughter-in-law Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley. The sitter turned them in. The children of the two women murdered have no mother. A Pastor husband has no wife. Family members have lost a loved one. Friends are stunned. A horrible tragedy. Very, very sad.
There are some days that things do not make much sense. I'm better off at HOME making my place a HAVEN to live in instead of being out in the world. My HOME TERRITORY is the best place for me.
PLANS THIS GLORIOUS WEEK. We'll get the INCOME TAX PAPERS in the mail. My hair needs shampooed and I think I can lean over the KITCHEN sink to shampoo it. Enough time has passed since cataract surgery to where I can lean over. I'll continue to do laundry and work on switching out the metal racks to get the dinette set placed in the KITCHEN. The lawn needs mowed and the start of cleaning out the flower beds done. A trip to the market for Eternal Water and veggies. A medical appointment for HUBBY. What else. Continue working at boxing up dishes that will be stored for now until we figure where to go with them. I need to switch out the winter clothing to Spring/Summer. APRIL. The local Prom is fast approaching. Picture time.
