I LOVE ME SOME COTTAGE CHEESE. Some HATE it, but not I. I am a fan for sure. Not just for dieters. I haven't ever tried to make HOMEMADE cottage cheese and I probably won't.
Cottage cheese is high in protein and is an excellent source of calcium. Choosing a low-fat cottage cheese can reduce saturated fat intake when substituting it for other higher fat foods, such as cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise or ricotta cheese. It's also full of vitamins and minerals that support a healthy diet.
When I was a Teacher's Aide, I had 30 minutes for lunch. We lived near the school, so I'd go HOME for my lunch break, pop a potato in the microwave, let our pet outside for a potty break, sit just for a short time, take the potato out of the microwave. I'd top the potato with spaghetti sauce and cottage cheese and enjoy a HOT MEAL. Not expensive either. Budget friendly and full of benefits.
Loved it and with cutting calories like this, I lost a bunch of weight over time. Didn't keep it off, but at the time, I was impressed with having lost weight. I am working on that same thing NOW. I haven't returned to baked potatoes and cottage cheese yet as we do not have a microwave.
With the help of the internet, here are some info pics.
I do believe it is a beneficial FOOD for me and I will continue to eat it. Instead of oatmeal with fruit and nuts for BREAKFAST, I can exchange the oats for cottage cheese. A quicker way to make a nutritious meal. THINK I will take advantage of this and be blessed.
Cheering us on,
