I CAN HEAR THE WIND BLOWING OUTSIDE as I sit in my easy chair typing. It's suppose to be windy all through the night. Perhaps the rushing wind will lull me into a deep sleep and it will be wonderful. This post was typed Tuesday night. I slept well waking feeling refreshed and ready for the day.
While in Topeka on Tuesday, it felt like we'd blow away when we walked from the car into various shops. I'd heard SNOW and RAIN are suppose to pay a visit come Wednesday night. I wanted to get my grocery shopping done before I get snowed in.
The drive HOME was challenging as the strong gusts of wind blowing made driving our automobile difficult. Both hands firmly on the wheel. A gorgeous orange sunset on the horizon colored the sky as I drove homeward.
My dear, sweet husband yelled out, "Deer...deeeeeer!!!" and he wasn't yelling out to me an affectionate name but was giving a heads up that there was an actual DEER running near the ditch by our car where we were passing by.
A doe was running too close by our car for comfort, so I slowed my 'ole car down to a crawl. I was exhausted when I got HOME. Putting fruit away into the fridge when being so tired isn't a good recipe for civil.
THRIFTING TUESDAY WAS GREAT FUN. Started the day out by eating LUNCH at SugarCreek and got a M.J.s Almond Milk Steamer. Onto Topeka contented with a full belly and sipping a very HOT, delicious drink traveling along the countryside onto Topeka traffic.
We went to a Print Shop that my Husband wanted to visit that we did not know was there until the night before. Opened in 1927 and has been there awhile. Pointing out to my Husband an old wood file cabinet that was for sale. I didn't know that two days earlier he had been praying for one. We took measurements and he made an offer to the salesclerk. Offer accepted. He paid and would return on Wednesday to pick it up in a different car.
Next, God's Storehouse for thrift items, Natural Grocers for organic goodies, Walmarts, Kohl's, Sams and put fuel in the car at Murphy's. Home sweet home.
Thrift finds:
Some books.
Two amber colored Depression glass saucers in the Madrid pattern.
A turquoise ring!
A $2.80 wash basin for old pitcher. I was excited to get this as I have had a old white pitcher for a few years that didn't have a basin with it. I put the two pieces together when I got HOME and they made beautiful music together in the Victorian room.
Putting these two old pieces of porcelain together gave me a sense of contentment. I had an ah-hah moment where my blood pressure dropped and I could breathe a little easier. They got married and now are on their HONEYMOON.
Before I had the basin HOME, my thoughts about using the basin if it weren't large enough to hold the pitcher was that I could place fruit in it leaving it in the Kitchen. I could have put artificial flowers in the pitcher and still might.
HEALTH JOURNEY. I continue to desire to lose weight and be healthier. I managed to pull off another round of the Jackie Kennedy/O Diet. Afterwards, I allowed bread with butter, some wine and a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day between then and now. I weighed myself cheering myself on to eat yet a different diet.
I don't have hard feelings about calling what I eat, a diet anymore. A food program is a diet. This week, I am making yet another attempt to lower the numbers on the scales before I go to my yearly physical in April. 6 1/2 weeks away. I KNOW I had my sugar fix the last few days and now I will eat a very low calorie diet for ten days straight before dining on the Daniel Diet WAY holding hands with the Color Wheel Plan sliding into HOME plate when I have blood work done to determine where my A1c and cholesterol are and get weighed.
FOR THE NEXT TEN DAYS, I'll be eating lots of apples, soy-free eggs, Stoneground Scottish Oatmeal, nuts, fruit, carrots, and cucumbers. 10 days. The count down begins on Wednesday.
Lots of eggs and apples. So I bought 7 different varieties of apples all organic from Natural Grocers.
As I shopped Natural Grocers, I took a leap of faith and bought some different mascara, eye liner, eye shadow and lipstick for better health. I'll get rid of all my icky chemical filled make-up except some lipsticks that I am willing to eat. Another chapter toward decluttering and getting healthier journey. Shouldn't I feel empowered by this? For some reason I don't.
AS I SHOPPED ON TUESDAY, I had no luck finding a stainless steel egg poacher. I may have to order one via computer. There were plenty of micro-wave ones, but the old standard ones to use on top of the range were no where to be found. Tried Walmart, Kohls, Bed Bath &Beyond, Sams. I was too tired to try Target and the Shopping Mall's Kitchen Stores as there are miles in between each store and with that comes traffic, dodging cars, traffic lights and using high priced fuel.
It's on days like this that I wished I lived in a small town that has a town square that has all the stores I would ever need close to HOME. A fairy-tale kind of town. DO they exist? Pray tell. I think somewhere over the rainbow they do.
I can eat my eggs boiled or scrambled. I thought having poached eggs would be a nice switch. Keep trying. It will be easier to order on the computer. The wear and tear when I go to brick and mortar places of business has become more tiresome than I want to admit.
PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK:
Placing paper print-outs of Christmas ornaments in sheet protectors. Same with my brother's letters.
Bag up old make-up.
Going through more cardboard boxes in the junk room.
Cleaning in the junk room.
Cleaning the bathrooms.
Gathering up more items to donate.
Going through more clothing to get rid of.
Shredding more paper.
Doing a few loads of laundry.
Staying focussed on eating a very restricted diet.
Staying flexible because plans can and will change.
THE SNOW MAY BLOW IN TONIGHT...
can I stay civil?
Yes, I must.
