MINT TEA
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, packed
- 1/4 lemon, sliced
- 64 ounces hot water
Preparation
- Wrap the fresh mint leaves in a cheesecloth and tie tightly. You can also use a pitcher with an infuser if you have one.
- Add the mint leaves and lemon to an empty pitcher. Fill it to the top with boiling hot water.
- Let sit for at least 30 minutes before enjoying.
Ingredient Variations and Substitutions
For a citrusy and naturally-sweetened drink, swap lemon for orange slices.
If you like your flavors stronger, you can use additional mint and lemon to taste.
Cooking and Serving Tips
Serve this tea with ice cubes during the hot summer months. Add the ice after the tea is steeped and cooled, or just refrigerate it before serving.
When using fresh mint, wash the leaves while they are still on their stem, in a bowl under running cold water. Swirl them around to get rid of any dirt or debris. Mint is one of those ingredients that you should wash right before use, otherwise, the leaves won't fare well when stored.
