TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT

CLOSE CALL.  On the way to IOWA, we were driving through Liberty, Missouri turning off the Interstate so we could get something to snack on like peanuts.  To get off the interstate, I was driving into the right lane to the traffic signal to stop when a semi pulled into the left lane beside me.  When the light turned green I began to drive forward to turn right when the semi proceeded ahead of me taking a right turn as well.  As he drove, his trailer began to cross over into my lane blocking the entire road in front of our car, so I stopped.  His trailer came within inches of hitting our car.

As I sat there looking out the driver's window, a part of his truck trailer crossed above my side mirror and across the hood of the car.  He didn't touch us, but this was too close for comfort.

The odd thing is, that a day or so before this happened, I was calling to remembrance all the times I have nearly been killed or died.  Then this happens.  I began giving GOD praise and thank yous that HE has spared my life so many times.

Before we headed to Iowa, we prayed and I believe GOD hears our prayers.

Last Sunday, we checked our calendar for the week ahead.  It would be a cold weather week, but we had no medical appointments for the week and the week was free.  Calendar OPEN.  Off we went.  Blue skies going and when returning HOME.  No rain, snow, sleet, wind, etc.  Nice to travel in praying for no car troubles.

During the week, we stayed with my Mom and spent time with my sister as well.  Full week.  On Thursday, my sister took us to some Thrift stores and Walmart.  Ate at Wendys.  In the evening, we picked my Husband up and went to eat supper at McALISTERS.  I ate salads.  Stayed faithful to not eating any bread!  No desserts.

Riding along in the car at night, I could see the colored Christmas lights.  Twas beautiful and it helped warm my soul.  Christmas lights still up in mid January was a nice thing to see, if you asked me.

Our visit for the week came to an end.  We did stop off at Lamoni, Iowa to look around at the AMISH STORE.  We purchased some Harney & Sons non-caffeine tea so I can drink some when I get HOME.  It has been 17 days since I had tea.  Having some caffeine free tea is a high light. AFRICAN AUTUMN is a new one for me.

Also stopped at an Antique Store.  Strolled the aisles and spied a miniature Blue Willow casserole dish with lid and a sugar bowl with lid.  I bit the bullet and purchased these miniature pieces for my collection.  Sweet.

I'M ON DAY 17 of the Daniel Diet.  21 days of this.  Weighed myself a little while ago and no more weight came off during the week.  Day 21 will be Tuesday and then I believe on Wednesday, I'm going to have some toast and eggs.  I'll be walking on the treadmill as the weather is in full WINTER MODE. Too snowy and cold to be walking outside.

Back to blogging.  I'll rest a bit, do laundry, exercise and clean our HOME this week-end.  I feel like we had a mini-vacay the last 5 days.

Back HOME where I belong.

GEESE JUST FLEW OVER THE HOUSE

WITH THE FRENCH DOORS OPEN TO LET FRESH AIR INSIDE, I could hear the geese flying overhead.  A very nice sound to hear on this Autumn evening.  Their honking gets my attention and a gentle feeling comes over me.  They are lovely creatures to see flying in a group where they know exactly where they are headed.

Hearing them as I am sitting seems appropriate this time of year and day.  They are beautiful birds to see at the ponds and lakes as well as in flight.  On their way to somewhere they will call HOME.

Wish them well as we're safely HOME after being gone for a few days.  I gathered the mail from the stuffed mailbox, contacted some loved ones as we had just got HOME from seeing my Sister and my brother-in-law that live in IOWA.

We have plans for making a patio over at the COTTAGE in the Spring.  HANK had some bricks that he was turning loose of and Hubby made arrangements to pack and stack them in a moving van.  Yesterday they loaded the bricks and today Hubby and I came HOME with them.  We were on the road about 6 hours.  We stopped on the way and ate hamburgers and fries for supper.  A free day on my diet.

On Saturday, we had gone to a Cross Country meet to watch our Granddaughter compete.  The weather was awesome.  Got some sunshine, Vitamin D and fresh air.  Grand placed again!  It is a delight to watch the kids run the distance.  Afterwards we headed toward Iowa.

Visited with my Sister and Brother-in-law in their new HOME then they took us over to my Nephew's HOME. He and his wife had fixed steaks for us.

Their two children entertained us with their musical instruments and they also have a new PUPPY!  It was a fun-filled evening.

The next day, my Sister and I went shopping to see her new community.  A very quaint place with historic buildings.  Enjoyed myself and found a large antique mirror I would have loved to have, but didn't purchase it.

Also one shop had a pair of Victorian Piano Babies that I would have loved to have, but our piano is in terrible shape from the fire and we no longer have it in our HOME.  She's in need of a complete overhaul inside and out.  I suppose I could have placed the Babies elsewhere in the house, but then I'm downsizing.  So no for now.

Supper at PF CHANG's

Honey Chicken
Crunchy Mango Salad

Chocolate Cake was a huge splurge one evening, but LIFE needs dessert sometimes and this was just one of those times.  Boy, was it gooooood.

We had a great time seeing the sights.  West Des Moines is a very nice community. We ate out, so no dishes to wash.  I really liked that.  The traveling catches up with me and the tireds hit.  Hello tireds.  I'll need to rest a day or so before going through Christmas decorations in the basement to turn loose of.  I wish it were already behind me.  Sigh.  Look upwards and forge ahead giving thanks for LIFE.

Tomorrow I will return to the eating routine I have been on.  I only made 10 days on the Daniel Diet before I was needing more calories.  I believe I have nourished my body and can return to eating the way I am to on the Daniel Diet.

Had some bread, potatoes, meat, dessert while in Iowa.  Back to vegetables and fruit as I will begin again in the morning.

Windmills?

The drive to Iowa and HOME again was beautiful.
SO many corn fields and wide open spaces. Rolling hills and lovely pastures across Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa.  The trees are definitely turning more so than here in Kansas.  Where did my Summer go?  Tis dark outside by 8.

Tis beautiful this time of year,

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
