AFTER YESTERDAY'S ACTIVITIES, I nearly fell over with fatigue. I made a huge meatloaf with the trimmings and by the end of the evening, I was way too tired to clean-up the Supper mess.
Guess what? The dirty dishes were waiting for me this morning. grins. I slept well and after I get a few things done this morning I will wash dishes. Laundry is in and Breakfast done. Figured out that we can have leftover meatloaf for sandwiches for Lunch and Chili Baked Potatoes for Supper.
Hearing my Husband and our Son working on the front porch together is music to my ears. Occasionally there is the sound of laughter and the muffled conversation going on makes me happy. Together they are working to complete our front porch. The rebuild has been a big project to say the least. Not only are they accomplishing building a much needed porch, they are making memories.
My part in all of this is to have meals, beverages and snacks for them when needed.
HUBBY and SON worked LATE into the night on the porch, which meant a late supper for them. The pots 'n pans and dishes were not washed. No shame here. Just good 'ole grace served up with a side dish of mercy. No need to beat myself up on this one. The MEAL was decent with the meat loaf turning out moist and tasty. Very pleased.
I fixed my meatloaf different this time and was pleased with the outcome. All ingredients except the beef were mixed and blended well in a bowl. Spices of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, small can of tomato paste, 2 eggs, 2 cups of bread crumbs, Italian spice, small amount of sugar-free ketch-up and BBQ sauce were mixed well then the 2 pounds of ground beef were added. A splash of Half and Half was added to the mixture. Well mixed and placed in my favorite glass meatloaf dish. Baked it at 350 degrees for an hour then added the glaze topping of brown sugar, ketch-up and mustard. Baked another 30 minutes then checked the internal temperature to make sure it was 160 degrees. Allowed the loaf to sit for about a half an hour before the guys came inside for the night.
The thought of MOCK MEATLOAF came to mind. After I mixed all the ingredients except the beef, it looked just like ground beef. I might try making some later just to see how it turns out. During the Depression Days MOCK MEALS were made to feed a large family. MOCK MEAT MEALS, mock pies. Might try MOCK MEATBALLS as well.
Side dishes of baby potatoes and green peas with large carrot slices. Dessert was ice cream. DRUMSTICKS. Gosh, it was good.
All turned out well and I was pleased.
NO WALK TODAY. Efforts are going into the front room.
I want to do some shuffling in the front bedroom before I stand at the Kitchen sink doing dishes. I stacked the dirty dishes in the sink just so so soooo they can soak in hot sudsy water for a little bit before they get taken care of. The clean dishes in the drain rack were put away. Game on.
Yesterday, the men worked all day on the porch and I mean all day. By the end of the day, they had made huge progress. The limestone porch foundation was finished and support boards are being laid for the actual porch. PRAISE THE LORD. This is coming along.
During the day, I did some laundry and tweaked items in the front bedroom. Working in such a tight area adds challenges for me. It is so tight it's difficult to move making more effort go into the task. More energy spent and when I don't have much energy in the first place it makes it even harder for me. Not complaining just keeping it real. Older bodies don't always work the best.
I managed to scoot the long work table across the room so I could get items on some bookshelves dealt with. I gathered 5 boxed Barbies to get ready to turn loose. Looked up their value. I'll be trying to sell these later, but need to get some pics taken.
SO many boxes to go through. Digging out from under STUFF my gorgeous pie table was found and placed on top of the work table with an antique wood chair. Bedding was gathered and stacked together. As I shuffle through things I'm grouping the items with like kind. It would have been better if this were done right away with our move.
This move we made 2 years ago is what I call a dirty move as we didn't move in an organized fashion and things are all mixed up due to the lack of time we had when getting out of the house we were selling. The brunt of the move was made by HUBBY AND ME alone. What a work-out we had. What a work out.
When this move is completed, my hope is that we are completely downsized to fit in the COTTAGE and everything will be in order. Everything from papers to tools. EVERYTHING. It exhaust me to think about it. Gotta keep moving and staying in motion.
Today, I hope to shuffle a whole lot of stuff and clear out the corner of the room so another book shelf can be placed there to put my quilts someplace other than the Dining room. It's going to take some muscle and time to get to this point. It's ongoing. Having the folded quilts together will be an attractive display.
Are you going through something that is requiring great effort and time AND a whole lot of patience and planning? Do you know you're older than you'd like to be wishing this was behind you?
God give us strength.
I may be too tired to wash the dishes, but never too tired for ice cream. How's 'bout you?
