MAYBE IT IS THE HEAT

After working a full day inside the hot COTTAGE  I came HOME with a migraine.  Took some meds and am sitting with my feet up.  The COTTAGE inside was warm at 89 degrees which made it uncomfortable for an old woman that doesn't have a thyroid that helps cool me down like a normal peep.  Fans were running with the windows open, but it was too HOT to stay any longer and I was very tired by 4pm.

Reviewing what we did today.  Hubby worked on the air conditioner as I went through MORE BOXES.  Cook Books and baby clothing.  Such cute clothing.  I lost count after 226 items.  I was snapping and buttoning the items that needed it.  The third large box, I just stopped counting. Bagging the items to take HOME to launder.  Baby Clothes galore.  I will launder the Fall/Winter clothing first and then give away or sell.  Made a dent in the room.

I'm about half way through the room.  If I could do back flips I would, but I can't.  I will get there eventually.  I hope.

I thumbed through some of the Cook Books while sitting in front of a fan, tore out a few pages of the recipes and pitched the books.  SO many of my old cook books are in terrible shape and what the fire didn't roast, the mildew and heat got to them.  Sat some of the in better shape books to the side that I will keep for now.

COOK BOOKS are one of my many weaknesses.  I LUV looking through them, but seldom do I try new recipes.  R U KIDDING ME?  No, it seems like just looking at the pictures and reading the ingredients is enough to satisfy my soul and tummy.  grins.  I have a special shelf saved in the COTTAGE pantry that will hold my Cook Books.  A very nice place to hold them.  An actual book shelf will be dedicated for them.  I'll have the room for some cute cookie jars as well.  Up above a couple of Kitchen cabinets is room for my Teapot collection.  That will cheer the COTTAGE Kitchen up.

I was able to scoot by myself one piece of furniture to another room.  Not able to scoot the dresser yet.  That'll come another day.  I want to use the little bedroom for now for the items that I will be keeping in boxes.  SO I will have to migrate these boxes to the other bedroom.  When I get the Master Bedroom cleared out, I will dance a jig and give thanks to God that I have made it thus far.  Hallelujah.

I took down the old, heavy, grody drapes that were on the front bedroom window.  Threw them away.  That felt great.  Empowering.  Polished the glass window plus the storm window.  Mud Daubers built three nest between the window and the storm window.  I cleaned the window frame as best I could.

The Mud Dauber's nest are made out of mud that dries out and when you go to clean the nest, the solid dirt has turned hard as an old rock.  When you wet it, the nest turns back to mud which smears when wiping.  I got this mess cleaned up.  Admired the clean window and hung up new, fresh white panels.  I'll need to get new decorative rods later.

I'll clean the other two windows in the room when I have more energy and time.  For now this will have to do.

The little COTTAGE Porch has Mud Dauber Nests along the ceiling also.  They have had a hay-day with my porch.  When I get ready to paint the porch, these nest will have to be cleaned away.  The Daubers seem to return each year looking for a safe place to build their nests.  They'll just have to move along when I get my porch painted.  The porch ceiling will be HAUNT BLUE and I will spray or wipe essential oils to discourage them from returning.

Ways to get rid of Mud Daubers:  Use essential oils such as lavender and Teatree to repel spiders that attract mud daubers and keep them away. Put up bird feeders to attract predators that eat mud daubers such as orioles, bluebirds, and chickadees. Spray the perimeter of your house with peppermint or citrus spray to get rid of mud daubers.

I start getting really excited thinking that the COTTAGE Bedroom is just about completely cleaned out.  The imagination starts kicking in.

ON THE HOME FRONT:  I have some company coming next week to stay.  I need to be ready.  This week-end I have to tidy the Guest Bedroom and do some more laundry.

Later I will totally clean the other bedroom which I call the Vintage Bedroom.  I tell ya, I got so far behind not being able to walk for nearly 2 years and then when my back started hurting, this didn't help matters at all.  What do you do when you can't work at housekeeping and get things in order?  I pray and do what you can when sitting and take tiny steps toward cleaning, hire a housekeeper or volunteer your husband.

I remember the author Emilie Barnes... that when she got so sick, being organized helped her. Emily Barnes' Books are wonderful to read.  When I was living in Jenks, Oklahoma in a runned down rental waiting for the time we would be buying another house, I read her wonderful books. She was such a great Christian lady and knew some wonderful tricks to use with housekeeping and making the most out of LIFE.

A very inspirational speaker.  I was blessed to hear her in person once.  She was incredibly talented and spoke words of LIFE.  An inspiration to many.  She's one of my heroes.

THE MIGRAINE HEADACHE IS GONE.  PTL.

Supper will be Salmon Patties with Asparagus and maybe a salad.  Iced-tea to drink and a good 'ole movie.

Last night we watched the movie, WHITE SANDS with Willem Dafoe, Mickey Rouke and Samuel L. Jackson.  Rated R, 1992 American Crime Thriller film.  A bit bloody with gore.  Not for young audiences.   I had to retrace my tracks as to where we were living when this movie came out. We were in Marion, Kansas after a Texas lay off.  This is why this movie did not ring a bell.  We weren't going to movies at the time.

Was it any good?  It was a thriller full of suspense.  The acting was good and the subject matter interesting.  If you like thrillers, you might like this one.

Tonight, I'm not sure what we'll watch.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
