'NO CANDY TODAY'

IN THAT MOMENT OF TIME between sleep and waking up, I couldn't remember what day it was.  Recalling what day it is seems to be happening more frequent for me.  It doesn't take long to remember when I check the date on the computer and compare it to my miniature calendar.

Sleeping Hygiene is a new term for me.  Oh well.

What shall I do today?  Banking business where I activate my money card.  A load of laundry in the machine.  Gather some small boxes of books to start a stack.  Look through my stash of bluejeans to see if I have a pair that will fit me NOW.  Continue on the paperwork that is by my TV recliner.  Take a short walk around the block before noon to get some sunshine and stretch my legs in a good gentle way.  Locate the SPRING DOOR WREATHS and some plastic Easter eggs in the cellar to bring upstairs.  Work on Easter Baskets.  Purchase some Easter cards. Simple things needing done.

NO CANDY TODAY!  I ate Milk Duds last night until the cows came HoME.  Umm, had quite a few chewy ones that didn't melt in my mouth, but lingered.  My bad.  Today, I will deliberately make the effort to nOt have any candy at all.  I seem to go in spurts where I do pretty well avoiding the sugar and then nOt.  Pushing the veggies and some fruit seems to be easier for me these days, but then I still eat too much sugar.  shucks.

It's going to be a gorgeous day so I must get out in it and soak in the sunshine.  Perhaps I'll drive over to get Hubby's meds, go the extra mile and return a Walmart purchase and stop in at the GOODWILL to see if they have a pair of bluejeans that will fit me for $5 to $6 instead of spending over $30 for Walmart jeans that do not fit right.  The last pair I purchased was cut to where the back swooped too low on the backside.  I could get these to zip, but then why pay so much for something that doesn't really fit?

I have never sewed myself a pair of bluejeans with a zipper.  Never.  I'm not sure I could do this. I did sew a pair with a drawstring when I was a young momma with two kids.  This comes to mind. I think I will do some sewing this SPRING and stop making excuses as to why I'm not sewing at all.  The treadle sewing machine will be moved back into the Dining room to where I can actually use it.  Where it is at in the Utility room, I cannot sew on it.  I'll need some help getting it out of there and placed in the Dining room.  The machine is very HEAVY.  I'm not sure I can muscle it.

THE OTHER DAY, I was craving all beef HOT DOGS.  While out shopping, we went ahead and got some.  It's been a while since we had dawgs.  Tasted really good and we weren't at a ballgame either.

I had 2!  One with ketch-up with pickle relish and one with mustard with pickle relish.  Warmed, they were delicious.  My bad.  A small amount of potato chips to the side.  Wait a few days then go round two with the left-over dawgs that remain in the fridge.

Sipping on HOT Vanilla Comoro TEA.  I've been starting my mornings out this way as I figure out my plans for the day doing some paperwork and blogging some.  Maybe I should do some morning exercises before eating.  I'm not always hungry in the mornings.

Mornings generally start out by taking meds with spring water on an empty stomach waiting an hour before food or drink.  Put a load of laundry in.  Put away the dishes in the drying rack. Figure out the day plans.  Sip TEA, Groom and get dressed.

Being the week-end, I'll be babysitting my Grandpup.  Last time we puppy sat for her, she perked up.  She'd been depressed as our Granddaughter disappeared to college and Doty didn't understand where she was.  It was heart warming to see her perk up.  She's getting old, but there are times she acts like a puppy.  I think she's about 13 years old now.  13x7= 91 years old in doggy years.  That's strikes a cord in me.

THURSDAY IRISES

TODAY THE IRISES HAVE STARTED TO BLOOM!!!  I am a Iris LOVER and each year I look forward to when they bloom.  Taking an interest in IRISES helped me make it through a rough time in my LIFE and a new passion developed.  I liked Irises from my childhood and kept admiring them through the years, but it was when my husband planted Irises along our wood fence at the rock house that my passion took flight.

Presently their green leaves started getting LUSH last week and buds began to show up. Today...a few have bloomed.  My cup of excitement has ran over.  This seems to have happened rather quickly as the buds along the sidewalk came forth almost like overnight.  I am amazed at this.  I caught myself saying out loud, "Look at that.  All those buds!  Wow."

WHEN THESE BLOOM, it will be a beautiful sight to see and the fragrance will be pleasant.  These are heirloom Irises with a bubble gum scent.  Most Irises I have been around do not have a pleasant fragrance, but these are the exception.

A few have bloomed elsewhere in the yard.

LIKE A WATER COLOR PRINT.

Yesterday, the temps were in the 70s and the sky was very cloudy.  I think this encouraged the flowers to bloom over night.  This white with yellow was one of the first to bloom.

This week I may have to go to the KSU Gardens in Manhattan, Kansas to see what they have in bloom.  Each week during the blooming season they have a huge variety of Irises each one so different from the others.  It's MAGICAL.  I am blessed to get to see them.  SO blessed.  Season 2021 has begun.

ONCE AGAIN, I slept very well through out the night.  When I sleep well it is very much appreciated because several years ago I came to an understanding what NOT sleeping soundly through the night was like for a solid 7 years.  7 years.  Not a number of completion or maturity. It was draining to not be able to sleep soundly.  Exhaustive.

I started sleeping better then trauma happened with the house fire in 2016.  Eventually we relocated to a different house. It would be late in 2020 that I finally can admit, I am resting the best I have in years.  PTL.  Thank you dear God.

TODAY, I have an active day planned ahead.  I hope it goes well.  May your day go well.

Blessings,

Thoughts Of CHRISTmas

THOUGHTS of how I'm going to decorate and which foods to fix this year for CHRISTmas have been swirling about inside my head for a few weeks now.  It's hard to contain it.  Staying the course for THANKSGIVING was a difficult event this year as our entire main floor of the house was a mess due to remodeling.  The furniture shuffle was out of necessity.

Being THANKFUL.

Remembering how our country came to be requires setting apart some time to be thankful.  This Holiday came to be.

The event that Americans commonly call the "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in October 1621. This feast lasted three days, and—as accounted by attendee Edward Winslow—it was attended by 90 Native Americans and 53 Pilgrims.

The New England colonists were accustomed to regularly celebrating "thanksgivings"—days of prayer thanking God for blessings such as military victory or the end of a drought.

George Washington was the first president to proclaim a day of thanksgiving, issuing his request on October 3, 1789, exactly 74 years before Abraham Lincoln's last Thursday of November "as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise."

Much has changed in our modern culture towards being THANKFUL to God for HIS many blessings directed toward us.  Taking some time to remember and celebrate that we have received many blessings is much needed in my LIFE as I do not want to ignore being THANKFUL.

Our week-end after this Thanksgiving will be the beginning of slowing the pace of activities as CHRISTmas begins seasoning in.  Staying focused on remember the LORD's earthly birthday will be meaningful.  If I keep a slow, steady pace until CHRISTMAS, my nerves will surely be calmer.  Much needed.

"Behold, the virgin shall be with Child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which translated means, 'God is with us.'" - Matthew 1:23

Isaiah 7:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

I began CHRISTmas shopping before Thanksgiving.  The easier this is the better it is as I have been aging right before myself.

Further research and study will take place as I hope to continue to walk in better health.  Tis an ongoing journey.

This week-end we will rest.  We have to.  Working on the house so much has worn us down.

Sleep is needed,

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
