FOURTY years ago this week-end, we got married.  

We were two very love-sick teenagers that said I do and did.

I remember the days when I held on to my HUSBAND for dear life.

Arm in arm.

He still has this charismatic pull to him

from my point of view.

On This Fine Wednesday

 

 PLAY TIME SOON

JIBBER JABBER
Just got back from taking Lil Miss to school.
It's a cool 70 degrees out with a gentle Kansas breeze in the air.
Started the PASTA SALAD.
COLD Cooked Pasta is in a covered bowl with Zesty Italian Dressing mixed in.
Will add vegetables later in the day.
Diced Celery, Red and Green Peppers, cooked Carrots, a little diced Purple Onion
and lots of Black Olives.
Gonna have some coffee with cold creamer in it.
Sip on it awhile and think about the day ahead of me.
It should be a full one.
Laundry is in.  On delicate wash.
I like washing clothing in cold water.
Think this is better on the articles and saves money as well.
Underwear, towels and sheets get the HOT TREATMENT.
All the fancy dodads and buttons on the washing machine are seldom used.
Simplicity is the name of the game.
Will soak in the tub here shortly.
Need to shave my legs for this.
If I could make money by growing hair on my legs, I'd have a fine sideline business.
Borrowed my daughter's book, Trim Healthy Mama.
Will see where that goes.
Last night it rained. 
Wonderful.
During the evening, Honey and I quickly shuffled the front porch furniture.
Not much out there, but I like rearranging the Bistro Table with Chairs and the Park Bench.
Just swap the locations of these.
The Summer Spiders have had a heyday making webs.
I need to wash the porch furniture before long.
When it's a bit cooler out and I'm HOME to do this, I will.
The leaves on the trees are falling due to the HEAT.
The HOT DAYS or DOG DAYS of SUMMER are here.
This is when I start thinking about HARVEST COLORS
and getting the AUTUMN DECORATIONS out to display.
After the temps cool off a tad, Hubby will repair the backyard fence.  She's leaning.
Then a backyard flowerbed will go in and the Irises transplanted.
I've wanted a backyard Iris bed for 30 years.  Gulp.  That's a long time.
After looking at the Lilac Bushes that we put in along the side of the house 7 years ago,
I think they need to be moved to behind the Alley fence where they'll get more light.  Just haven't grown like they should.  Better read up on when to relocate them.
Lilacs are some of my favorites.  Sweet fragrance and love the color. 
WHAT's for SUPPER?  Maybe a regular SALAD, PASTA SALAD and a TURKEY PATTY.
Shall see.
Need to go to the Store and get some milk and coffee creamer.
Better run.
The tub is calling my name.

DRAWERS By The Sink

 Let there be HOPE.

This Kitchen redo 

is taking place one area at a time.

Still have snacks/meals to fix, clean-up and dishes to wash

with or without a finished KITCHEN.

Not the easiest thing to do, but it can be done.

 We still have a nice roof over our heads and HOME is HOME!

Running water and electricity right along with flushing toilets.

Air conditioning and heat.

Television, Music, Washer and Dryer.

Heavenly.

 

The pull-out cabinet beside the fridge

now have drawer fronts which were primed, painted 

and oil rubbed bronze drawer pulls added.

Don't have pics yet of the patching that's taken place 

on the wall beside this pull out.

The ugly wall has been worked on.

All smiles. 

It's adding up.

One step closer to having a completed KITCHEN.

Don't 'cha know...we're smiling.

My HOPE is in the LORD.

Wonderful and peaceful week-end.  

I rested a great deal and my dear Husband worked on the Kitchen.

Now that the week has begun and it's Monday, 

I am in hopes of good happening the rest of the week
with continued BLESSINGS.

This is a week to think on my marriage.

 Together, my Husband and I will be celebrating 

our 40th Wedding Anniversary.

Earlier in the Summer 

we had a Family and Friends gathering to celebrate.

Our Children had a reception for us.

Wonderful.

This week, it'll just be the two of us.

Each day should be a celebration.

Life is short.

Home Life should be a HAVEN.

Jibber Jabber

A different kind of day for me.  The KANSAS skies are grey with the sound of a distant thunder rumbling across the Prairie.  The path to my front door remains unseen to rain.  Sipping cold coffee, I sit resting from a week of a lot of traveling including a whirlwind trip across country to see our newborn grandson.  I'm having to speak words of encouragement to myself to get up, dust and do laundry.  

Traveling seems to affect me more than ever.  Sort of like jet lag, but no airplane was involved.  What should this be called...auto drag?

A good day to look at pictures.  Looking through my WEDDING PICTURES was time well spent.  Beautiful memories.  There are hand written notes of wedding gifts that were given at wedding showers.  Gosh...I had forgotten how sweet people were to give us such nice gifts to start our HOME MAKING with.  We both were way skinnier than presently.  Sigh.  grins.  At the end of the month, we celebrate 40 years as Husband and Wife.  We've built a life together.  Here we are...still going.  

SIX grandchildren later.  

Our newest was BORN just this week.  

What a sweetheart he is.   


Cleaning.  The Parlour is long over due.  What I call the BUMP OUT on the house is really a very small Conservatory.  A perfectly inviting place for spiders and another host of bugs to call HOME.  Only problem is, I no likie spiders and buglettes.  

This week-end I hope to clean this small place out and reclaim it for humanity.  I should probably sell tickets so others can get a laugh at how it looks as an older woman crawls around on her knees to dust under the furniture.  The bugs have invaded.  As I attempt to get up in an upright position they'd see that the human body moves in ways not nice to mention.  Mercy me.

Speaking of HUMANITY, we stopped by RESTORE and claimed a couple of old chairs that need tender loving care by the Master of this estate.  Saw them and just knew they needed our old stone house to come HOME to.  See the picture...she was calling my name.

Sure hope that we have a slow paced week-end.  I would love to get rested up.  The week was a 'on the go' kind of week where we drove over to Hillsboro to see my oldest brother recovering in a nursing home from emergency bowel obstruction surgery.  My sis and bro-n-law were out to see him.  My poor Mom is exhausted.  It's been 3 weeks since her son had surgery and she has seen first hand how ill he has been.   We drove HOME.  

SHE STILL STANDS

Next day we were in the auto again and drove to Pilsen to attend a cousin's 40th wedding anniversary.  
I was in the wedding party way back when.  Was nice to be there.  

Drove HOME and rested on Monday to pack and hit the road on Tuesday to see newborn grandson and family.  Spent the night and drove HOME the next day.  Thursday was busy and today it's Friday!

I was reading in a local paper that 75 years ago sprinkling lavender about the books help prevent mildew.  Thought that was good to know.  

The way I do my housework these days has changed big time from how I did it as a young woman.  Now, I might dust a section of a room, sit down and do some book keeping, get up to put a load of laundry in, then return to dust another section of the room I was dusting in before, sit down to write a card out, return to room cleaning, do a little something, then get a drink of water, eat, sit down, etc.

Whatever floats your boat and works...do it.  Perhaps this cleaning technique will change again.  At least I am moving and breathing as I go.  A little here and a little there gets the job done.  Praise the Lord. 

Day dreaming this week with visions of sugar plums dancing in my head.  Christmas thoughts with snow.  How many Fridays until Christmas?  Only ELF knows.  

I have this habit of starting CHRISTMAS SHOPPING through out the year.  Little gifts start to collect and congregate desiring to be wrapped.  Know what I mean?  I had a pile of gifts stashed behind a wing chair in the Parlour.  Moved the gifts upstairs into the hallway.  Wish I had a GIFT CABINET to store all kinds of gifts, but don't.  Not a huge problem to have. 

Even have thought of writing out Christmas cards in July, leaving card open to insert a Christmas letter that will be written in December.  May still do this.  Though July has come and gone, might do in September.

Hubby plans to work some on our famous KITCHEN.  Wonder how this will go.

Me…hope to accomplish whatever I'm suppose to accomplish like...cleaning out the BUMP-OUT.

This week I got some great decorating ideas which gives me lots of ideas to fall asleep on as I drift off to la la land.  Sweet sweet dreams.

Hello Baby. Hello Grandma!

Newborn Baby slept in my arms.

Not a care in his world.

Comfy and contented.

Dry diaper and just fed.

Weighing 8 pounds and 4 ounces, 

he was 21.5 inches in length and born at 8:24 am.

A morning Baby.

Precious bundle of joy was welcomed by his Mom, 

Dad and 3 siblings.

We love him and think he's wonderful,

My sister came for our annual summer-time August visit.

Where did the time go…it flew faster than ever.

It's like it never happened.

She likes to shop, so we did.

We talked a lot, ate out and shopped till we dropped.

Had a style show, watched movies and ate popcorn.

There were so many other places I wish we had gone.

Maybe next time.
