After I posted yesterday's message,
I went to the hospital emergency room and was looked over by emergency staff.
My heart continued to skip beats. All the internet reading I had done about what to do when having irregular heart beats was saying to contact doctor, 911 or emergency facility. Truthfully, we had tried to visit with my endocrinologist that prescribed my synthroid for thyroid and find out what to do. We were given a on call doctor. Prescribed beta blocker and we made a late night trip to Topeka to pick it up. Our little town does not have a 24 hour Pharmacy.
I was told to go to endocrinologist office in the morning to have blood drawn to check TSH reading and our doctor would let us know what to do next. I was given a report on the blood and was told that I would be called on Thursday or Friday and be told what to do. Drove home. Heart still beating oddly.
Next day after having a full body scan, as the day progressed I broke and asked my husband to take me to the emergency room in Manhattan. We drove over and I had my doubts. I kept hoping that my heart would straighten out and return to a nice steady beat. If you're anything like me...it makes me nervous when my heart skips so many beats. 3 beats, skip a beat, 3 beats, skip a beat, 9 beats, skip a beat, 30 beats, skip a beat, 2 beats, skip a beat, 2 beats, skip a beat, 3 beats, skip a beat, 21 beats, skip a beat....for two days I couldn't get the heart to straighten out.
Admitted to the Hospital. Paperwork filled out.
Computers were down. My ID Bracelet was hand written. Dressed in a hospital gown. I was visited with and looked over by an MD, blood drawn, hooked up to a EKG, blood pressure and temperature taken, given a aspirin and 2 tiny Ativan.
The EKG showed about 3 times is all that my heart skipped a beat. I was all decked out and no place to go.
The doctor increased the beta blocker and prescribed Antivan.
Went back home and rested the rest of the evening very well.
Now to get the name brand medication for Antivan would take some work. Checked with 5 Pharmacies and none had the name brand, just the generic. So for 82 cents, I bought some generic antivan.
I pray that my thyroid medicines will stabilize my hormones needed to function. After taking 2 Thyrogen injections in which to lower one to being hypothyroid so the radioactive iodine takes action inside the human body to kill off left over thyroid tissue that might be cancerous, I believe that the lowering my thyroid reading has caused this irregular heartbeat and high blood pressure.
The antivan is to help relax me so I'm not getting overly upset that my heart beat is whacky and making me uneasy.
Today my overall health was better. So much better! PTL.
Hurray.
Lord willing this week-end I will totally clean the Dining room and it will once again look as if somebody cares about the way our home celebrates having a dining room at HomeHaven.
Thyroid health.
