It's been a rough couple of days…..on Thursday I fell again. Not sure how this happened. Wasn't walking fast. My shoes fit well. Still, I lost my balance while walking on the concrete sidewalk. I started running in an attempt to overcome the downward pull, straighten up my back and stop in motion. I was traveling fast while trying my best to straighten up to not fall. Able to redirect my landing toward the grass, I went down hard. What a sight this must have been. My body slammed the grassy ground with my little handbag flying out of my hand. Keys flew. Stunned for a moment, but not for long.
I rolled to my side, sat up and quickly pushed myself up into a standing position. Took a deep breath, picked myself up along with the purse on the ground.
Walking to the car, the stinging started. I rubbed my elbows and knees. My jeans were grassed stained on the knees. No holes. My good pair of jeans were still intact.
My Grand-daughter had sprained her ankle this very day. My daughter's foot caught a tote handle in the car as she was getting out of the passenger side. She caught herself. As I told my husband that I had fallen earlier, he announces that he had fallen in the garage as he was trying to catch a mirror that fell as a part of a chain reaction where he ended falling on top of a pile of things that collapsed onto the drive way. Then the topper happened when I listened to the phone's voice mail, my father-in-law shared that my mother-in-law had tripped on the beauty parlor floor mat after having her hair fixed. She broke her leg in three places and was flown to Amarillo for surgery. Please pray.
I'm bunged up. I ache. I hurt. Still blessed to not break any body parts. Hubby is still sore, but not busted up. Lil Miss seems to have healed right up. We are so blessed to still be in one piece.
Pausing in life as I am peri-menopausal. Terribly weepy. I didn't completely understand what it meant to be going through the change of life. I know that there must be a finishing point somewhere to where I will cross over and be changed. Really changed. Changed. At almost 60 years of age, you might call me a late bloomer. A very, very, very late bloomer. Makes me weary. I hope to see 60 and beyond.
Took it easy this week-end. Made a crock-pot pot roast for Sunday. It only took me 4 days to accomplish this meal. Whew. Sure did taste good on Sunday evening.
As the Fourth of July is coming this week, I'll hopefully wear red, white and blue, make some brownies and share Homemade peanut butter cookies with Family. Should I recall the Patriotic Roots of my Country??? Yes. I want to. We bought a large package of Fire Works that we'll begin to light in the evenings this week. This year has flown. It seems like yesterday that we watched the City Fireworks the week-end before the Fourth and bats were flying over head. We climbed into our car to watch the Fireworks without the fear of bats driving at us while our attention was on the sparkles in the sky.
Our Delilah Mae has seriously aged this year. She usually barks at the popping sound of the fire crackers. As they are popping, she is quiet in the backyard this year. Sleeping more and more. It is getting difficult for her to get up and walk. Such a good natured pup.
July usually means I wash the porch off and wipe down all spider webs. I wish I knew where our flag banners were. It's a mystery to us still. Hopefully the garage will get cleaned out the month of July and we will have a garage sale with the spoils that are found hidden in the garage. I know both my husband and I crave order. It's been a long time coming. Can't even believe that we are still not settled. Sigh. Oh, the things I have learned along the way.
Made great headway on going through our old VCRs and deciding which ones go bye-bye. There are some more tubs full of VCRs in the garage. Oh mercy. I have to go through this thinning out phase. Have to. This cannot or should not be put on hold any longer. You can run, but you cannot hide from the responsibilities of running a home estate. Running a orderly estate takes action and applying oneself. Amazed.
My sweet Husband edged the front yard. Took hours and lots of sweat. The yard now looks loved. When I lived in Texas, I learned that I could edge our lawn. I haven't edged a yard in years, but I sure like the look it has when completed. Hubby picked up where I left off. You did a super job on the yard. Super. It looks beautiful.
I love our old house, but confess that there are times I have been so overwhelmed with what needs to be done that I stop in my tracks and pause. Thinking I wish I were elsewhere.
The orange Day Lilies are finally in bloom. As others have bloomed elsewhere in town, ours were slow to bloom. I kept waiting and watching for the buds to open. They finally did this week-end. They are a sign to me that Summer really is here.
I hope this week is a blessed one.
May you have a wonderful Fourth of July.
Red, white and blue to you,
d
