wedding day 1974

~With My Parents On My Wedding Day~

August 31st marks my 38th Wedding Anniversary.
I was young once upon a time.....madly in love with my Sweetheart
 and wanting to marry.

Married we did.

Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded Husband
to have and to hold from this day forward?
Forsaking ALL others,
To love, honor and obey,
For better or for worse,
For richer or for poorer,
 In sickness and in health,

Till death you do part?

I do.

As I sit here thinking back about that day,
I have very fond memories.
I felt like a Princess.
My very special day.

Wedding days should be very special.
My Mom did so much of the planning and work behind the scenes.
My Dad walked me down the aisle and GAVE ME AWAY.
Waiting at the Altar was my future Husband and present day Hubby.
Our marriage has a story all it's own and I pray that we continue to grow old together.
To God be the GLORY....GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE.

A Formal Dinner

Sometimes a girl needs a little help...so
I called up Emily via internet.
Remember her?  Worth recalling.
Dear Emily help me!
Thanx,

A Formal Dinner

“The perfect example of a formal dinner table of wealth, luxury and taste, which involves no effort on the part of the hostess of a great house beyond deciding upon the date and the principal guests who are to form the nucleus of the party.”

Thank you for stopping by.

Mums The Word

Mums are a favorite Autumn flowering plant to me.  Instead of orange or rust color, purple popped out at me this year.
I seem to like purple mums.
The round containers made a come back for the front porch.
Though I was glad to get new urns this past spring....I missed my jumbo round containers
that I have used for uuuummmmmm like 10 years.  They've been a hardy container.

Lil Miss helped her Grandpa plant the mums.

~MUMS THE WORD~

Nursing a cold with a hacking cough.  There's that annoying tickle in the throat.  Can't seem to not cough.  Will take some daytime cold meds and some good old-fashioned HONEY.  See if that helps.  Chewable Vitamin C's are a must.  It seems that the colds I have hang around for 10 days.  Day 7 just starting.  Hate colds.  This week marks my 38th Wedding Anniversary.  38.  What a great number.  Praying that God blesses my marriage and my Husband.  Hubby is doing very well from recovering from bat bite and taking a series of rabie shots.  Lil Miss is attending school and I am having some quiet time in the mornings where I can read my devotions before tending to daytime chores.  Needing to clean the house before company arrives for the week-end.  Labor Day will be rolling in with some much needed rain.  May you have a blessed and pleasant Holiday.  Wishing you all a very special day, full of energy and refreshing moments.  God bless us.  May we be praying for our country and for a refreshing revival to fall on a thirsty and dry land and people that don't know the benefits of personally knowing God.

Home Happenings

SWEET Sister
came to visit and we had a great time.  Had fun!!!
Spending some time together each August....17 years ago and I'm in a time warp.

Lil Miss dressed for the occasion of us watching her DANCE RECITAL.  Was fun to see her doing the routine along with the video.  Then she did an encore by dressing up in her play clothing.  A dancing clown to a free style tap dancing
fairy princess.
Just a blur of energy.

While Sis was here,
Lil Miss started school.

She's loving school!

I officially went into semi-retirement from being a granny nanny and returned to being JUST GRANNY.
I'm figuring out how to do that.

Gambino's Cheese Sticks/Pizza does this to us everytime.  Seriously....it does.
It's a tradition
to have cheese.
Can you say, "Cheese"
????????????????

We went looking for the bargains,
had our hair done, ate hot dogs and tator tots.
Had our fancified coffees, laughed, had girl talk and shared stories.

 SONIC TIME
does something to your hair.

It is legal to eat M and M's
while watching movies.  They are like vegetables...just as colorful and filling!
Also, if there are peanuts inside....well hey,
now they provide protein.

Movie Time!
We did watch
The Help
and I can't help but think it is a great movie...a CLASSIC.

Louie Giglio's
INDESCRIBABLE
is a decent watch and encourages deep thought.

also Louie's.....
FRUITCAKE and ICE CREAM

Daughter gave us free tickets so we saw at the Movie Theatre
HOPE SPRINGS

Definitely an adult subject matter movie
and not for the young.

Sis's Hubby,
Hank returned and played Dinosaurs.

Hubby fixed his Award Winning Meatloaf
with Twice Baked Potatoes.
OH Honey....it was delicious.
You have a winner there if you ask me.

Lil Miss sat the table all by herself and made us feel very welcomed with BOB THE BUILDER NAPKINS!

Then it was time to say bye.
The time sure went fast.
Sorry to see my Sis go.

Special memories.
Making Summer count,
d

~Brookville Hotel Parlour~

Upstairs in the Brookville Hotel are a Formal Parlour and Three Bedrooms

Abilene is the newfound home for the present day Brookville Hotel
that is no longer a Hotel,
but a wonderful place to dine on Family Style Chicken Dinners.

Upstairs are replicas of the way Brookville rooms  would have greeted her paid Guests.

Bedroom 3

I'm not sure which room I think is the most attractive.
Not sure which room I would even try to copy
in my own house if I could.

Which do you like?

Think it would have been delightful to stay!

Thank you for coming by
and visiting me at Home Haven.
Hope your day is going well.

One of the things I like about blogging and posting stills is that it gives me
an opportunity to call to remembrance what I saw.
I can recall the places and study them more in depth
as I spend some time viewing the images.

It takes me a while to see all that there is to see.
With pictures I can slow down and enjoy the experience all over again.

I like the wood floors in this place, the wood furniture,
the lace panels hanging in the windows
and the simple feel of everything is in it's place and a place for everything.

I'm encouraged to declutter my own home rooms.

God bless and may we be encouraged to live the kind of lives
that we need to,
d

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
