Meatloaf AGAIN

Left-overs will be Meatloaf with veggies.
Aint too proud to beg sweet, darlin.

My most recent recipe turned out a delicious Meatloaf.  The texture and density were like a tender steak to cut through.  It didn't melt in my mouth, but if I had been a dog, I would have barked for more.  Feed me.  I wasn't shy getting seconds.  Beaming with pride, I was boasting a full stomach and satisfied that this loaf turned out extra good.  Perhaps I should have put a feather in my hat.

The texture and density were the best I have ever created.
T h e  b e s t.  The flavor was good as well.  Not too spicy, not too dry.  Moist and slightly sweet.

So today we will dine on more
Beef Sirloin Meatloaf.

My memory slips from time to time.  If I can remember how I fixed it this time and not tweak my method next time, it will be a continuing adventure about fixing the perfect MEATLOAF before I venture out to fix THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN this side of the Mississippi.

Around here it would be the MISSOURI.  THIS SIDE OF THE MISSOURI.  I have ate at some FINE RESTAURANTS that are known for their outstanding Fried Chicken.

Besides my Momma's...

In St. Louis, there's the LEMP MANSION which would be on the other side of Missouri, so that doesn't count.  Their Green Beans and Cucumber Salad were to wiggle for.  Their Fried Chicken was very goooood.  CRUNCHY GOOD and wasn't greasy.

In eastern Kansas, there's the BROOKVILLE HOTEL in Abilene.  Served Family Style and oh so crunchy good.  Their Cream Style Corn is good enough to drink.  Hard to beat.

Abilene also has Mr. K's FARMHOUSE RESTAURANT where President Eisenhower ate which has very good Fried Chicken as well.  Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurants are still out there so you can dine with the Colonel just about any time, but this isn't what I'm talkin' 'bout.

Down south, we stopped in at the Sam and Ella's CHICKEN PALACE in Talhequah, Oklahoma thinking we'd surely have delicious Fried Chicken.  Sounded good after traveling so far...but were surprised that it was a PIZZA PARLOR.  Welp, that was not to be expected.  Their PIZZA was really really good.  REALLY.

SO the next time I say we're having Meatloaf AGAIN perhaps it will be something else, like SPAGHETTI with meat-ta balls.

Blessings to you!

Day Fifteen: Staying Indoors and Please Pass The Chicken

Day Fifteen

Finally the ice arrived.  Finally.  More tonight.  We did not get what other areas received....yet.  Not disappointed.  Staying indoors and working.  The little neighbor boy next door is outside screaming. He plays loud.  Why he is outside I am not sure.  They have a chicken coop in there backyard.  Perhaps he was helping his daddy.  He does that sometimes.  I noticed that they had the chicken coop lit last night.  Suppose this was a heating unit as cold as it got.  The coop glowed brightly as if on fire.  Was a pretty sight to see.  Not every day do I see such a sight.  Neighbors will have fried eggs for sure as they keep chickens.

Their chickens got out of their coop last week as I heard them clucking outside my window.  Ornery me thought I could ring one of their necks and have a chicken dinner!  I have never in my LIFE rung a chicken's neck.  I have no idea how this is done. other than that I've heard others talk.  Still it was a thought that I did not entertain for long.  Apparently they made their way back to the coop because they are clucking today as I sit indoors where it's warm.

Should I add ringing a chicken's neck to my Bucket List?  Don't think so, but hey that would be a challenging thing for this old Lady to do.  I think I should update my BUCKET LIST.

STAYING INDOORS.  My day begins with a bathroom break, morning meds and waiting for my cup of coffee to cool before sipping.  A load of laundry going into the washing machine.  I should call my washing machine Rosie since she's my maid that seldom talks back.  A robot.  All good robots should have a decent name.  Then should I name the dryer?  Have to think on that one.  HANK.  John.  Leroy.  Geronimo.  Jerry.  Breezy.  Dryer.

Open the Parour shades.  Pick off dried out geranium leaves from two plants by front window.  Unload the dish rack.  The dishes have air dried overnight.  Wash any dishes that are dirty from late night milk break.  Sit in comfy chair.  Jot down in my a spiral notebook what I need to get accomplished for the day and what I hope to get done.  Paperwork.   Look over the bills and pray.  Make phone calls.

Breakfast varies.  Sometimes Coffee with cream is my Breakfast.  Knowing this is considered UNHEALTHY since breakfast is the most important meal of the day as I was told as a child attending public school in Liberal, Kansas.  I was eager to please the teachers as I was innocent and obedient.  Didn't want to get into trouble.  So I didn't.  Sometimes I think back and wished I had been more ornery.  For real.  For sure.

Another load of laundry dealt with.  Think about Supper.  Takes steps to prepare for it.  Groom, dress, make bed.

After my toes heal, think I will take slow leisurely morning walks to the Post Office like clockwork.  Back Home.  Rest.  Blog, write a book, decorate, tidy on house.  Think and pray.  Lunch.  Clean-up.  Another load of laundry.  REST BREAK.  Afternoon for whatever....study, read, write, shop, etc.  Supper.  Clean-up.  Evening off.

Our lil cottage has a tidy front room which is dressed up with lace curtains and Eastlake Victorian Parlour furniture.  Delicate furniture isn't very practical for larger framed people, but this doll room furniture for the time being is being used for eye candy to help ease my mind's tension of working at fitting into this sweet place.

Next comes tidying the Master Bedroom so when waking in the mornings it looks pleasant and before retiring at night it is a peaceful retreat.

Today I had better take an early bath just in case the power goes off.  Soaking my sore foot and toes will ease the pain.  The power may go off as it rains freezing rain on the power lines.

Back in 2007, our power went off for about 8 hours during the day.  Watched the thermostat temp drop every hour on the hour.  It was finally getting really cold inside the old stone house where we lived.  We loaded up in the car and drove to the court house where all could gather to stay warm.  As we were nearly there the Downtown Christmas lights came on.  Power was back on.  Back HOME we went ready to warm up.

Much to say about the Friday Inauguration of Mister Trump.  Pros and cons all over the internet.  I don't dare say what I think about Mister Trump.  I would get hit on both sides and then some.  If I dare say that he is a puppet with his strings being pulled by the illuminati, many will not agree.  If I say there is a illuminati many will react.  If I say there are Kabbalist running the country....many will laugh.  If I say Freemasons own this country many will look at me like what are you talking about? If I say our country is already ran by a certain group of Bankers, many will frown.  If I say I believe.....all together now...many will flip out.  So what am I to say?  Please pass the chicken.

Sunday THOUGHTS.
Blessed,

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
