With the Kansas Summer heat beating down on us, the humidity reminded me of when I lived in the Houston, Texas area. We lived in Bridgestone, a Spring, Texas subdivision. We purchased a new house and enjoyed TEXAS like it was a whole nudder country.On the drive to the Middle School where my children would attend Public School, we discovered a mysterious house behind a high fence that blocked the view from the road and only softly spoken rumors were said as to who lived in that huge mansion down the private drive.
Just shortly before we were to relocate back to Kansas, I had two invitations to attend a Bible Study led by Billie Hunt. At the time I was already attending a Ladies Bible Study which was led by Beth Moore.
I was willing to also attend this other Bible Study and I'm so glad I did. With all the hustle and bustle of things that go along with being laid off of work, preparing to move, place a house to sale on a depressed market, pack, job search, etc. I was willing to lose myself in another Bible Study...just til we got moved.
The day I traveled up the drive to attend Billie's Bible Study, I said a big, "Thank you, GOD, you knew I needed a treat!!!" The Study was in Reina Fontenot's Home. The mystery was solved. She lived in this mansion that we had wondered about who lived there...she and her husband so graciously opened it for Billie Hunt to have a Bible Study in.
As we sat in the beautiful oversized Livingroom that the Houston Symphony had performed in before, I was in awe. The teaching was informative, interesting and fun. The music uplifting and rewarding. A meal was provided each week by Reina. This was The Cadillac of Bible Studies!
It was delightful...
Later, we'd be invited to a Christmas Party there where Mr. Fontenot introduced my husband to the Architect that designed the House. We were given a tour and of course I drooled. This here hick was what some call being in Hog Heaven. The evening entertainment was provided by noted Opera Singer Chris Holloway. I got to sit behind him and stare at the back of his head.
