A Simpler Life

Is it possible to have a simpler LIFE?
Being overly BUSY can wear you completely out.
Perhaps it is in changing our minds and attitudes
that we master our time, talents and temptations.
We have free well to make choices that bless us or burden us.
With God's HELP.....we can be more relaxed and confident
that we are LIVING a BETTER WAY.
A more excellent way.
To GOD be the GLORY.....GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE.

With the hustle and bustle of everyday living....I craved to be more relaxed and not so harried/hurried.  When my young children were 3, 5 and 7, we lived in Omaha, Nebraska and I was constantly ill with urinary tract infections.  UTI's started in 1980 when I was 25 years old when we lived in Liberal, Kansas before moving to Omaha.  I just couldn't seem to recover from them before I had another raging infection.  One after another, over and over again.  Antibiotics would help some and when it ran the course, I'd still be run down and another round of infections would kick in.

A very challenging time.  I did my best to get well.  My best wasn't good enough.  I'd ask questions. I'd read.  I suffered.  Was this caused from previous surgery, wearing the wrong kind of underwear, wearing jeans, uncleanliness, improper toilet practices, weakened immune system, yeast in the blood, too much sugar, too much artificial sugars, allergic to hubby, etc.

I failed to pray or have others pray for me.  I just wasn't there in my spiritual journey.  I also failed to recognize that God was with me the whole time.  I failed to recognize HIM.  I didn't get quiet before HIM and ask HIM what was causing these infections and how to over come them.  That'd come later.

Visited yet with another doctor about UTI and another and another.  I'd battle with this challenge until 1990 or so after my Texas Doctor put both my husband and me on potent antibiotics at the same time.  I had questioned doctors before about 'could we be passing this infection back and forth?'

I was told, oh nooooooo.  Nooooooo.  Nooooooo.

Suffering brought MUCH pain...no gain.  A very long and draining illness.  At the same time, I was exercising with Jane Fonda who was famous for saying feel the burn.

Finally a doctor said yes, we could be passing this back and forth between the two of us.  We were on our way to recovering from a very long and draining illness.  Mercy.

Before this successful treatment, I was in pain, tired and drained.  Still Parenting as best I could and taking care of a Home and Family.  Doing Church work and........and doing and doing and doing.  A simpler day seemed like a great solution as I was panting along as I went.

I became interested in the Amish.  In my mind's eye their lifestyle seemed appealing and simpler than what I was living.  I admired them.  As time passed, I grew to know that all people have challenges...no matter what background they have grown up in or however privileged, every human has challenges.  Even the Amish get sick.  Even the Amish deal with injustice.  Even the Amish are born without the Spirit of the LIVING GOD in them and even they need a personal relationship with Jesus.

ALL have fallen short of the glory of GOD.  Even the Amish.  All.  That means you and that means me.  We are not born perfect.  None of us are perfect.  According to God's word....His instructions are found His Word.  Being a member of such and such family, church, club, country does not guarantee a rightful place with God or a place in heaven.  Your lovely NAME must be written in the Lamb's Book of LIFE.  It is written there after you accept Christ (the Lamb of God) as your personal savior.  Personal savior.

WEBSTER's Bible Translation which I read on the internet www.bible.cc/romans/3-23.htm
ROMANS 3: 22 through 26.

Romans 3:22, 23
Even the righteousness of God, which is by faith in Jesus Christ to all.  And upon all them that believe; for there is no difference:  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

(Barnes Notes on Bible: Have come short- Greek, "Are deficient in regard to", are lacking, etc.  Here it means, that they had failed to obtain, or were destitute of.  The glory of God- The praise or approbation of God.  They had sought to be justified, or approved, by God; but all had failed.  Their works of the Law had not secured his approbation; and they were therefore under condemnation.  The word "glory" is often used in the sense of praise, or approbation.)

ROMANS 3:24, 25, 26
Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ.  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;  To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness:  that he may be just, and the justifier of him who believeth in Jesus.

I admire that the Amish shun much about this hectic and commercialized world.  I know that they still have challenges and are not exempt from sin and the sin nature of people.   Much of what they do without modern appliances and devices must truthfully increase their physical labors.

Admiration.  Still, I mustn't place any cultural group on a pedestal.  I mustn't with any human being.  I mustn't worship people.  I'm to love people, but not worship them.  God is who I am to worship and admire.

As an older woman these days, I desire a slower paced life.  We can have this with clearing the calendar, laying aside the over committing to activities (including Church Activities), deciding that a change WILL TAKE PLACE and allowing it to take place.  Schedule some free time where you are free to slow down.  Give yourself permission to slow down.  It can be done.

Are you saying I can't slow down?  Slow down Molly.....you can and must.  You can slow down.

Here's to a simpler and more restful life.
A simpler life.

PS.....after the treatment with strong antibiotics where both husband and I took, I began to have fewer infections.  There are times that women feel like they are getting an infection and they are actually dehydrated.  I know.  There were so many times that I had difficulties.  Drink more water and cranberry juice.  God bless you if you are having difficulties.

Douay-Rhelms translation:
Jesus said in MATTHEW 11:28
Come unto me, all you that labor, and are burdened, and I will refresh you.

Aramic Bible says:
Come to me, all of you who labor and are forced to bear burdens, and I shall give you rest.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
