THE NEW WEEK IS OFF AND RUNNING. Hubby and I made huge progress with doing the downsizing shuffle. More dancing needs to take place before we win a trophy for participating in the marathon of LIFE.
We truly are giving it a go and a half. I have to sit a great deal and rest during this ordeal. Lots of planning takes place. Thoughts are in motion. Muscles aren't far behind.
Hubby is working in the front bedroom that's being used for storage right now. He's shuffling things to make room for four large chairs that need moved out of the dining room and living room. Until we can get two of them into my Husband's Art Studio that hasn't been created yet, they temporarily need stored elsewhere. The front bedroom is the ELSEWHERE for now.
We are on a merry-go-round with this move. Shuffling things from here to there. Live with it for a minute then shuffle again and again and again. This downsizing shuffle is not toning any physical muscles. It's necessary to do to make us fit in this tiny place.
One might say this is excellent exercise for two nearly 70 year old peeps that do indeed need to stay in motion to remain mobile. All the shuffling does wear me out though. I have to be my own cheerleader to stay motivated for getting this task of getting settled done. Part of the challenge is that the manpower hours are limited, the moving takes extra long which can eat yo' lunch. It doesn't happen quickly. Slowpoke Avenue.
I wonder if any Dance Studios specialize in THE DOWNSIZING SHUFFLE? I wouldn't suggest taking the course unless you want to learn a new two step and a tango that gives you a headache with a sore body.
I don't want to complain, but it does seem like this is going on FOR EVAH. I've had lots of practice at relocating and setting up new HOMES to live in. This move is one of the toughest I have been a part of. I will PRAISE THE LORD when it is completed. Our age and physical bodies with health issues are something to take into consideration. We move so much slower and with less square footage to have belongings in is a recipe for pulling hair and spitting nails. It is CHALLENGING.
To not be too uptight, I have to rest and make this adventure 'funner' than it is.
We purchased two, tall book cases for using temporarily in the front bedroom until build-ins are made later in the year. Some of the shelf pegs for supporting the shelves were missing. Over to MENARDS we had to go as the local hardware store was closed and the next one we checked did not have these pegs.
Driving over to MENARDS requires time, energy and a dependable car. We made the sacrifice to go in hopes of getting shelf pegs so the shelves could be put into place then loaded.
Of course, I desired some green tea. Starbucks first then over to MENARDS. I always enjoy looking around there as I can imagine and dream of things to come with remodeling our 1900 Folk Victorian Cottage. One must have a hope and a dream to forge ahead into remodeling. Money comes in very handy as well, doesn't it?
They had the right size pegs. I picked up some bottled water and Stove Top Stuffing that was a $1.50 a box. Oh how I love DRESSING. Next best thing to potatoes.
We didn't stay long as it was getting dark and we wanted to be HOME before night fall. The drive across the prairie was beautiful with snow covered hills and fields. Terribly cold out.
When we got HOME, I turned on the faux candles that were placed in the porch lamps on a table. A warm glow in a cold world.
THIS WEEK, the chair shuffle will take place and free up space in the middle of the Living room and open up the small Dining room full of boxes. My BLUE WILLOW CHINA and BLUE GARLAND CHINA are in boxes. I didn't meet my goal of having the china in the china cabinet. Perhaps this week will be better.
Thinking through where the dainty pieces shall go. I had placed antique platters in the bottom of Grandma's Hutch earlier during this move. I want to hang the platters on the walls so for now I will pull these platters out and place them into the buffet that sits in the Living room then after we get further along, I'll hang them above the china cabinet and Grandma's piece. The Blue Garland can return to Grandma's Hutch and the Blue Willow to Mom's antique bow front China Cabinet.
Lord, I need all the help you can give me so this simple task that seems so difficult is made easy on an old woman like me. ATTITUDE is 90% of the work that needs done.
ATTITUDE matters. With prayer it makes a difference.
The out of doors is bitter cold so I don't mind staying indoors for warmth, but CABIN FEVER lurks inside the COTTAGE. I stood outside on the porch late last night to breathe in some fresh air. It was so quiet in my neighborhood that I wasn't bothered by the chill of the night. Back inside I went to warm up and watch a movie, THE HILL. One of the best movies I have ever seen on so many levels.
It spoke volumes to me since I had to retrain myself to walk when I was 6 years old. Wanting to do what others could, but I couldn't has been a thorn in my side for a very long time to where I must surrender to God's plan for my LIFE and do things the way he wants. His way. It isn't without purpose.
Laundry to do today, wash my hair, unload some moving boxes and do the downsizing shuffle again. I must eat more veggies today and be satisfied that I am eating nutritious food. When shuffling has taken so much effort it may not be a subject of interest to many. That's fine. On my end of the dance, I find some relief in typing about it on the keyboard instead of the dance floor. Only in my dreams can I waltz across the floor and remain invincible. Now where's that trophy?
