MIDDLE OF THE WEEK WEDNESDAY

Slept through the night.  No threatening storms as we thought there would be.  Tis wonderful to sleep through the night without storms or other things waking me.   It makes a huge difference how I feel in the morning.  Huge.  I have noticed that I have more get up and go in the mornings these days after I stopped taking the OTC sleep aids a few months ago.

It's amazing that I naturally get sleepy without medicines at night and then I wake earlier in the morning feeling refreshed and ready to go take the world on.  Like a miracle, I am no longer taking these sleep aids.  PTL.  Perhaps I took them for way too long.  After reading the harm they can do to people in the long run, I decided to stop taking them.  I was blessed to have no side effects or withdrawal.  This has been a blessing.

A miracle.  Now to get my blood pressure down, edema, cholesterol and blood glucose lowered. Walking is going to help as I get better at taking the initiative to get out to walk.

I have to take HUBBY to the doctor today as he is still coughing too hard.  He hasn't had bronchitis for two years I think and that is pretty good for him as he was getting it way too easy. Really gets him sick and run down.

After being on the Daniel Diet for 17 days, I returned to eating my regular way which isn't helping with weight loss.  This morning I am drinking an organic tomato juice which only has 50 calories for 8 oz.  I like it and so it will do me good.  Celery sticks to munch on if I get hungry between now and lunch time salad.  My weight loss journey continues as decluttering does as well.

Off to the doctors as Hubby can get in at 11:30.  I didn't go inside with him.  Instead I drove to Starbucks for trenta size Unsweetened Iced GREEN TEAS.  This size lasts me for about 4 hours as I sip on it throughout the day.

I have a tickle in my throat and am coughing some.  Shucks.  Going to see which one of us heals faster...hubby with antibiotics or me with vitamins.

When I returned to the parking lot, I was fortunate enough to park the car in some cool shade where I could roll the car window down and write out some bills while I waited for my Husband to return from his medical appointment.  Then I looked through a new magazine I bought at SAMS, WILLOW and SAGE.

I came across this magazine maybe two years ago and have yet to try out some of the recipes. Saving my magazines.

I will try some recipes...just not sure when I'll get to making these neat things.  LOVE the pictures and the idea of making some HOME MADE items to enjoy.  No need to be scared.  Just do it.

He came out to the car saying he was checked for CO VID and FLU plus a prescription for a antibiotic will be phoned in.  Results for CO VID will be quick and they will phone to let him know the results.  The phone call came in and he is NEGATIVE for co vid and flu.  Now to fight the bronchitis and cough.  No fever.

While we were over to Manhattan, I wished we could go to KSU GARDENS to see the Irises in bloom.

We made a quick trip to tour the blossoms.  I took a few pics making the most of this trip.  The Irises will probably remain in bloom for a couple of weeks and then they disappear for the year.  The green leaves remain behind.  Admired the pleasant smelling Peonies and noticed the Day Lily Garden that will be in bloom probably in July.  They have a huge Day Lily Garden that is going to be prolific.

After seeing the lovely blossoms we went to Subway for our favorite sandwiches.  There goes the diet.  I skipped the chips and drank water.  Eating in the car while traveling is challenging, but I needed to go to small town America to pay a utility bill and place the trash out for Thursday's pick up.  There were bags of weeds from the flower garden that need to be hauled off.

Across the beautiful Flint Hills we went, eating and getting stuff done.  Drove to the City building to pay the bill and go pick up mail from the post office.  Went into a shop and bought Hubby a Jimi Hendrix t-shirt as he was hubby's favorite musician back in the day a hundred years ago or so it seems.  Jimi was only 27 years old when he died.  That seems so young to me these days.

NAOMI JUDD has been on my mind lately due to her death.  Though she was extremely beautiful and talented, she did not escape death.  It's been a few weeks since she passed away from suicide.  I was stunned to hear this and saddened by this news.  I really didn't follow the Judds, but a couple of their songs I liked.  It seems sad to me that Naomi was so determined to beat Hepatitis C when she had it and then kill herself at 76.

She had much to say about getting healed from Hep C because she made up her mind to get well and shared how she did it, spoke to many about it, wrote books, did interviews and gave talks.  She'd say the body listens to the mind.

With so much talk about all ways lead to heaven, love is all you need, who needs Jesus...it is disturbing to me that high profile individuals believe new age tactics and think it is the way of truth when they are still in darkness.

How do I say this without sounding insensitive...she was determined to get over the Hep C, but gave in to mental illness and committed suicide?  What happened to the hope she wrote about concerning depression and coming out of it with hope?

Having had Hep C can cause psych disorders.  Didn't know this until reading up about it.  Depression can increase as well.

She wasn't shy about dropping names of others that she associated with that have made a living from the mind sciences.  As for her faith in God...I listened to one interview she did with ERNIE MANOUSE where she expressed that she gets really upset with the dogmas and the doctrines and the religiosity that says my way is the only way.  With a gorgeous smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye she said, "This didn't work for me."  So what did?

She didn't agree with Jesus's way to the Heavenly Father?  She didn't.  Have a spiritual belief system, not Jesus?  Was having had Hep C causing later in life depression and clouded thinking?  Only God would truly know.

She'd believe CS LEWIS over the Lord Jesus?  That God is a love that loves all loving.  Then she quickly changed the subject to Physics and a gal pal that works at Harvard.

I don't believe she had the assurance of her salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.  After years of struggling with mental illness, she researched a multitude of subjects, mind sciences, techniques and philosophers.

Because someone considers themselves to be spiritual with a spirit having a human experience does not make them a true child of God.  Without Jesus, you cannot be a true child of God and without accepting HIM as the savior you are not truly born a new.  So who was Naomi Judd?

She was a very beautiful, small framed, 5'6" woman that did not have a weight problem that had a great deal of charm and wit.  She had a beautiful smile as she was a active conversationalist having a higher than average level of intelligence knowing how to carry herself when she was a younger woman which opened many a door for her in her career.

The JUDDS sold a lot of tickets to concerts and sold many a record making her quite wealthy with a country estate.  Wealthy in cash.  She liked to share that at one point in her life she became pregnant out of wedlock the first time she had sex when she was left to take care of her siblings while her parents took her ill brother for medical attention in another town, was kicked out of her childhood home by her divorced mother that didn't know what love was, didn't get to attend her high school graduation because she was giving birth to Wynonna, married someone she didn't love, divorced the father of her second daughter, got beat up and raped by a boyfriend, couldn't hardly afford a jar of peanut butter on the table, she dressed her girls in Goodwill dresses, had no phone or television, studied to be a nurse and became one.  Gave a musical tape of her and Wynonna singing to the father of one of her patients that opened doors for their musical success.  Won a multitude of awards and was stricken with Hepatitis C causing her to retire from THE JUDDS to focus on her healing at home in bed.  She recovered, wrote books, gave interviews, made movies, made friends in high places, battled with depression.  She liked studying about the brain.

When on stage preforming she felt like she could fly and liked flirting with the audience.  When she gave speeches she chose to interact with the people using a sense of humor and eye contact.  Held her audiences captive by being an award winning singer that reminisced with stories about her troubled past to where a multitude of others would identify feeling some comfort in her gentle southern sounding voice.  She was smart that way.

She struggled with mental illness and became a very frail 76 year old woman that committed suicide with a firearm leaving her daughter to find her body.

I have listened to quite a few interviews on youtube over the last two weeks.  There was so much misguided sexual activity in her family as well as in her own life with a multitude of sexual partners.  Can you get Hepatitis C from being sexual with too many sexual partners or an infected one without using protection?  The answer is yes.

Was Naomi Judd sexually active when not married?  According to her daughter Ashley, yes she was.  She'd bring boyfriends home and not be so quiet about being sexual in the next room.  Naomi, perhaps you didn't know that having a multitude of sexual partners isn't healthy and letting your children hear the sounds coming from the sexual activity in the next room isn't healthy for the children either.

Listening to Naomi talk about what kind of man would kill himself in front of his children as a relative of hers did then allow her daughter to find her after she shot herself to death, would be a horrid thing to come upon.  Seeing this in person may possibly be the ruin of Ashley.  The cycle continues.

Very sad indeed.  Sad and horrific.

I'm no stranger to family members having mental illness.  My oldest brother suffered for years, but still had a strong faith in God.  He'd pass away last October.  With all the struggles he had in life, he was there for me as an older brother when my marriage fell apart over 30 years ago.  He stood up for me and was the sane one then.

How can we describe mental illness?  Organs in the human body can become diseased with the human brain not being an exception.  I'm very sorry that Naomi Judd ended her life the way she did.  Very sorry.  Her story did not end the day she chose to kill herself.

An Act Of Congress

I confess...I'm a MAGAZINE JUNKIE.  It would practically take an act of congress for me to get rid of all my magazines.  We're Spring Cleaning and clearing out the upstairs hallway where my stacks of magazines were piling up.

My goal is to have the hallway cleared of clutter before company comes to spend the night.  Can I do it?  Will I do it?  Should I do it?
A BIG YES.  Gulp.  Started by making a staging area on the steps where I grouped the magazines into piles of similar magazines.

Put the newest ones that I wanted to keep in a basket by my chair.

The waste can beside my family room chair is filling up with magazines that are going bye-bye.  It's a miracle.  Truly.  To trash my stash is progress.  Somewhere in here, I will have to downsize my books.  Just not this go round.  A Magazine Addict can only detox so far.  Have mercy.

Magazines are an earlier version of what decorating blogs are now.  As for going green...magazines require no electricity to look through.  They keep well.  Yes, ink, printing presses, power, and paper are required to publish them...but gosh...magazines can last for years and be passed around and around and around, etc.

They are like a time machine that takes you to another time.  No eye strain from computer lighting.  A hands on experience.

We're moving furniture around again.  AGAIN.  Have company coming in.  I have to be ready.  The beds have to have fresh sheets on them and the dust bunnies need to be rounded up.  Can I do it?  Will I do it?  Should I do it?  A BIG YES.  Gulp.

Praise the LORD!!!
We succeeded and got the hallway cleared before company came.  Old magazines can be donated to Schools, Churches, Day Cares, Home Schoolers and Youth Organizations for projects also Nursing Homes and Medical Facilities for reading/ thumbing through while waiting.  Young children in the home or neighborhood children can cut them up and make paper dolls or make poster art to decorate a house.  Alphabet pages made.  Tie some magazines together to give away to others interested in them or sale them at Garage/Yard Sales.  Or tear out the articles you want to file for future references or place the torn out magazine pages in vinyl sheets to place in a notebook.  Ever seen colorful envelopes made from advertisement pages?  Colorful and whimsy. Paper boxes.  Wallpaper.  Fireplace starters.  Advertisements to frame and place on wall or sale.
Recycle, recycle, recycle.

Personally, I like to look through 1950's magazines and revisit the past.  Interesting to read what was going on in the day and see the styles being promoted.  Make-up, hairstyles, clothing, cars, appliances, food...worth a chuckle.

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

John 3:7

Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 118:17

I shall not die,
but live, and declare
the works of the Lord.

PROVERBS 24:3-4

By wisdom
a house is built,
and through understanding

it is established;
through
knowledge

its rooms are filled with rare

and beautiful treasures.

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS

FUN FACTS FOR CHANDYS
SELECTING THE CORRECT SIZE CHANDY TO USE IN A ROOM MADE EASY. FORMULA MEASUREMENTS: Measure the room's height and width. Add together the numbers. Example: 8' x 10' room is 8 plus 10= 18" Use a 18" wide chandy. OR Take width of room calculating 2" for every foot. Example: 15' wide room. Take 15 times 2 = 30. Room needs 30" wide chandy. Standard distance between the bottom of the chandelier to the top of the table is 30 inches. When hanging the chandelier, make sure to hang it at the proper height. The bottom of a chandelier over a dining table or kitchen island should hang 30 to 32 inches above the top of the table or island. Most rooms call for at least 7 feet of space between the bottom of the chandelier and the floor.

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
