OH, TO LOOK SO GOOD.
ON MONDAY, I STAYED IN MY NAVY BLUE VELVETY SOFT HOUSECOAT looking over my cholesterol notes to type up so I can be ready with my questions and comments for my doctor pertaining to this cholesterol drama I'm involved in.
Working at lowering cholesterol naturally. I'm wanting to stay away from taking STATIN DRUGS. I will be faithful to take a tsp. of extra virgin olive oil from Greece to combat unwanted cholesterol. I have got to investigate the Mediterranean diet.
Have you heard of Dr. Don Colbert? He says it's the best way to eat. Period. I'll give it a whirl. He has free podcasts that you can listen to on his sight at drcolbert . com. Divine Health. He and his wife, Mary do health podcasts that are easy to listen to and educational. Worth checking out. FREE.
I'm willing to eat more like the Mediterranean diet suggest.
Knowing what one's cholesterol NUMBERS ARE does not mean that you have to go to a doctor for blood test as there are blood test you can order online without a doctor's prescription. I have used Walk In Lab three times and know that it is an easy alternative to getting blood test ordered up. They're affordable and fast at getting the results.
AS FOR cholesterol BLOOD TEST, NO one in the medical field ever shared with me that you should eat stable meals for two to three weeks before having labs for checking cholesterol until I read instructions from the WALK IN LAB before ordering the test on line.
No one ever told me to stop taking biotin a week before blood tests as it alters the numbers until I read instructions from WALK IN LABS.
No one shared with me to stop taking vitamins, nutritional and dietary supplements two days before labs are done until I read on WALK IN LABS.
FAST the night before labs for 12 to 14 hours not just 8 to 12 hours.
Drink plenty of water so you are well hydrated.
I think cholesterol numbers flex just like blood pressure numbers do, so I wonder if there should be an averaging?
IF your numbers are high, retest in two weeks. No Doctor ever told me this. Why not? Biblical Nutritionist, Annette Reeder shares this tid bit of info. I'll mention this to my good doctor or if my numbers are high, I'll ask for a retest.
Anything from dieting, to having an illness, to smoking, to being upset, to being scared, to being stressed out, to being constipated, to being dehydrated, to taking certain medicines CAN alter your cholesterol numbers!!!
Being hypothyroid can cause high cholesterol.
Having no thyroid can cause high cholesterol.
Having NO Gallbladder can cause high cholesterol.
Being low on sex hormones can cause high cholesterol.
I have had to learn all of this on my own. My doctors are not telling me squat. Makes me a tad bit irritated. The push to be placed on STATINS is what my doctor wants, yet I think he's jumping through a hoop and going what he thinks is the easy way to deal with cholesterol. There's a problem with this short cut. STATIN DRUGS have side effects that I don't want.
I take HCTZ also known as Hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic for water retention and to help lower my blood pressure. Come to find out HCTZ causes one's cholesterol to rise AND raises the chances of developing TYPE 2 DIABETES. Strike 3 and you're out. Why should I stay on this medicine when I have DEVELOPED both high cholesterol AND TYPE 2 DIABETES??? If my A1c numbers rise then I will be placed on medicines for diabetes AND STATIN DRUGS for high cholesterol. I become a CASH COW for the docs and BIG PHARMA. These meds will cause additional health issues and then I will be placed on more meds until I die. I will get sicker and stay sick when more meds will be prescribed. I want to be as healthy as possible.
My doctor keeps mentioning that I should be on STATIN DRUGS which has a bunch of side effects toward health issues such as developing DIABETES! Hello somebody. Help a girl out here. So if I bow my knee to taking STATIN DRUGS it will cause my A1c to rise and I have been working super hard to lower it for a year and a half. I have been blessed to naturally lower my A1c to a nice number and I truly DON'T want to spoil this. I have whittled my cholesterol numbers down without meds as well.
Cholesterol-Lowering Drugs
Statins and other high cholesterol busters may impair memory by lowering cholesterol levels in the brain as well as in the blood. Lipids in the blood are essential in the formation of connections between nerve cells, which underlie memory and learning.
I will be asking some questions this week as I have that big medical appointment that I have not been looking forward to visiting about my cholesterol numbers. I have a good report to take with me this time and shall see what the good doctor has to say about being within the RANGES. I used LAB CORP through walkinlab . com and ordered my own cholesterol test with a lipid panel.
I will continue to watch what I am eating and drinking. This week I started INTERMITTENT FASTING. I shall see how it goes. I am continuing with organic foods, grass fed meats, no soda or coffee, little milk, oatmeal, small amounts of nuts and seeds, spring water. Very low intake of rice, pasta and potatoes and bread. Occasional cookie, donut, piece of pie or cake. Some chocolate. Cooking with EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL from Greece, lots of vegetables and smaller amounts of fresh fruits. No GMO foods if I can help it and NO high Fructose Corn Syrup. No soy. I stay away from FAKE sugar as well and watch out for Natural Flavors which are not really good for you. Powdered Parmesan Cheese is avoided.
I will have to check out all the ingredients in my medicines as this is one area where sugars are snuck in by a different name besides sugar.
When a patient has to have a pretty good handle on health issues before going to a fully educated ALLOPATHY doctor, it can be very challenging. I'm not the one that has studied for years to be a doctor. LIFE LESSONS and personal experiences should not be completely ignored.
A patient to doctor relationship does have to have a certain amount of trust in which there is a comfortable flow of information and conversation going between the two. When I visit with the doctors I do not challenge them. I remain as calm as I can with my POKER FACE on as if I am about as stupid as they come. I share information, but mostly ask questions to hear their replies. As I get older, I have to be more pro-active and assertive as a patient. I can do this in a pleasant tone, but I mustn't come across as a push over either.
Please help a girl out and pass the Extra Virgin Olive Oil,
