Decorating On The Prairie and Shuffling Furniture

Remembering when my children were young I heard that you should rotate their toys.  Put some of them away and only allow them to play with one grouping of toys then after a few months switch them out with the ones in storage.

The plastic tubs and storage bins on the market sure would have come in handy if we had had them back in the day.  A huge variety of colors, styles and sizes are available.

AFFORDABLE as well.

My favorite ones are the see through kind where you can tell what is in the tub with one quick glance.

If you have to store tubs in an area where it isn't climate controlled the heavy duty tubs may fare better than the thinner plastic ones.  HARDY.

When we did begin to store items in plastic storage tubs, it saved us a lot of heartache and mess when the area they were stacked in was watered on by a leaky roof.  Water pooled on the lids.  Items inside stayed dry.  There was no soaked cardboard boxes to rescue.  No ruined items inside.

Also when you relocate a great deal the plastic tubs are pretty hardy and can be used again and again and again which definitely pays for the tubs.

Having them on hand saves money and time.  You don't have to be looking for used cardboard boxes from grocery stores bins or spending mula $$$ on new boxes from packing stores.  This can add up.  I knows.

Yes, the plastic tubs can crack and break, but chances are you'll get your moneys worth out of them over time.  With all cautious people you'll want to make sure small children don't get trapped in them. Be alerted to safety.

MOVING RIGHT ALONG...........going from storage boxes to shuffling furniture.
We're SHUFFLING again!
It's so good for the body...great exercise.

When the day comes that I turn loose of furniture
for CASH, BARTERING or SWAPPING PIECES
I have pieces that I like but am not sentimentally attached to.

Hows 'bout you?

For the time being I like the Settee we purchased.
Will use her, but have to shuffle furniture
to make room at Home Haven.

She sat in the Dining room till we figured
where else to put her.  Upstairs.

Up, up and away you go.

MY HUBBY IS A ONE MAN MOVING MACHINE.....HE WANTS TO DO IT ALL BY HIMSELF.
In a lot of ways this is alright with me,
but he has to be reminded that it's not a crime to ask me to help when I can.

Did it!  THANKS HONEY.

Means the Bedroom will have to be shuffled.

AGAIN.

Sweet LORD, Thank you for the furniture you allow us to use while we make our HOME at Home Haven.

So what do storage boxes and shuffling have in common?  We live but once here on earth.  Organization goes along ways while making a home.  What is important to keep?  Decisions to make.
The Bible has recorded the number of sheep and cattle some Biblical Figures had.  Why?  Because God thought it important to hand down information through the ages to us to let us know
just how it was and will be.

So how does it go in your home and part of the world?

Lovin' Livin' On The Prairie,
~Deanna~

The Bible tells me so.

Hi Deanna,

I like all the storage cannisters and yes, so much better than cardboard boxes for durability.
Great to have the settee up the stairs, always so hard to manoeuver furniture up the stairs, I know this as we have stairs also.
Have a happy weekend

Hugs
Carolyn

I notice that the stores are filled with great choices of containers currently for kids going off to college. They are wonderful for moving in and as you say, they protect our treasures!

I love your PS. That is probably the most profound song ever written. I will be singing it all day now. Thank you!

I loved the big beautiful doll in your cabinet at the top of the stairs Deanna. And that settee is lovely!

Your hubby seems like a nice man...and so good to cater to his honey's whims! (smile)

I agree that the plastic containers are indeed handy. And especially so if there is any water leaking! (Glad your "stuff" was safe inside.

Yes, it is true that the Bible tells us of the possessions that some men in the Bible had. I will share that with my honey and make him feel better. (He has a TON of stuff...and lots of plastic containers!) Ha!

But in the end we know it all belongs to God...for everything we have is from His hand!

I love you...and once again your post has inspired and entertained me!

Have a lovely Lord's Day!

HI D! Oh, I'm glad you found a place for that lovely olden settee! I like to try and keep things organized too! I have the plastic bins and wish I had just one big old room I could put them all into! But alas I don't! :)
Poke all I can up in the attic.
I'm so glad you'll be coming to my party.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Now if I could just get my garage to look like that one!

Hard to keep the garage tidy when there are so many projects going on inside and outside of the house. Now where did I put my hammer?

Dd says I have fourteen hammers, but that's another story.

Good Morning Deanna~
I Love that little couch that Honey single-handedly maneuvered up the stairs. Love that style of furniture and the fabric too. I'm about a year behind you in the plastic tub department. We recently packed up items to put in storage and the plastic tubs were perfect. I found out later that the clear tubs are the best for the exact reason you stated. And thank you for the song you posted at the end. Haven't heard that in a long time! Have a wonderful day ~ xoxo Amy

I need to shuffle toy around.....since she is here often, she does get bored easily, I find it interesting the stuff she loves and plays with every single day......she loves animals and her princess castle!!!!

Oooo...the settee is lovely:). I use a lot of those plastic storage bins for the attic. Being that we have a small house I use vintage suitcases and baskets for storage in the house.

Blessings,

Kim

DECORATING

I knew a very frugal Lady named Edith that shared with me a excellent guideline for decorating. She said with ease, "If your room has clean ceilings, floors, and walls, and the windows have nice curtains, you'll have an attractive room."

WISHES

NO MATTER HOW BADLY YOU WISH with all your might that the something devastating that happened in your life hadn't happened and want so badly to go back in time to prevent it from happening...it isn't humanly possible to do this. You can't change the fact that it happened. IT DID. But JESUS can change the MEANING of what happened to you and give you PEACE. He can show you the way in which you are to go. God richly BLESS you. ~Deanna
